brother yes maps and projections are a portion of geography paper and it is also one of the scoring subjects as one of respected Csp have scored 80+ marks in both papers of geography but this for that you will have to work hard and have to have a good grip over maps, statics, terminologies and also to present in a beautiful way.. but keep your aptitude in front of you and then decide whether you can do that or not... rest best of luck ... regards.

dear, one can skip the portion of maps, there is one question included from this portion and we have choice in question paper.

further
physical geography, 30 topics
human and commercial geography is comparatively easy

100% can be divided
75% physical geography to cover the syllabus
25% H.C geography to cover the syllabus

It depends on your aptitude and understanding of the subject.
