Question:
What are the traditional definitions of news? Do you think that the very concept of news has undergone a change with the emergence of 24 x 7 journalism?

here are some definitions of NEWS...hope these will b useful for all.


By Lord North Cliff:
when a dog bites a man its not a news but when a man bites a dog its News.

By Fraser Bonds:
Not the event in itself but statement of an event is called News.

By Paul.N.William
what happened during last 24 hours and what will happen tomorrow is News.

By Dr. Miskeen Ali Hijaazi:
News is a current and objective report of an event as it has occured

By Saleem Baig(Bureau Chief of APP):
Anything that anybody wants to suppress is News,rest is publicity.

Some general Definitions:
  • News is anything having timely interest for a number of people and the best News is the one that have the greatest interest for the greatest number of people.

  • News is what a well-trained editor decides to put in his/her newspaper.

  • News is anything that makes a woman say "for heaven's sake"

  • News is a breakdown in the normal flaw of life.

  • News is an account of events which a newspaper publishes with belief that by doing so,it will pay.

  • News is a revealing information that removes ignorance.

  • News is anything new that happened in between the four corner of the world.

  • Interesting, unexpected and true events about current, past and future is News.

  • News is a source of awareness and guidance.

  • News is what that spread by media and in which a number of people take interest.
