Beside reading books, all those preparing for Sociology should "keep their eyes open" It means they should keep an eye on the happenings around them in society and should try to analyse these happenings sociologically with the help of their knowledge aquired through books. It is necessary as the questions of general type are often asked in papers and you will be able to answer them only if you have the ability to relate your knowledge with real life happenings in society.
Good Luck to all appearing for Sociology.

Paul B. Horton, Sociology. . it is one of the very useful books, besides others, for Sociology. . . Be sure to prepare the questions on
Sociology of Bureaucracy, and
Changing Family structures in Pakistan.

@ Sociologist PU

Concept clarity is what we need or do we have to cram the stuff... as you know the trend now is application of knowledge they don't ask simple questions... so will i be on the safe side if i have good understanding of the concepts?

regards
Madiha

@madiha and Mash

We'll be much better off sticking with the more bookish questions. Cram up on the sociologists and the application of their theories, their importance etc. In addition, focus on conceptual questions, i.e internal validity theory and its application/importance, other sociological theories etc. General questions such as poverty in pakistan or education, family etc are not nearly as yielding in terms of marks as theoretical questions, as i have learned from experience.

@ Madu

Sticking to bookish knowledge is a safe option for a newby. On the other hand a person with advance knowledge can relate this knowledge with the current social issues but it can back fire as well if s/he relate it wrongly. So keep blance in your preparation.
