Nope.
I disagree here.
Past perfect is used when the event that took place has been followed by some other event or events as well.
Therefore, both Came as well as Had Come are correct and acceptable.
Past perfect used:

1-Is used 'To go back' when we're already talking about the past.

Examples:
I realised that we had met before.
When I arrived at the station, the train had left.

2-We can use time conjunctions to talk about two actions or events that happen one after the other. Usually past perfect is not necessary in these cases. It's optional.

Examples:
After I had taken my exams, I went to Murree for a week.

3- Unrealised hopes and wishes: Things that didn't happen.

Examples:
I had hoped that we would be able to leave tomorrow but it's beginning to look difficult.
Wish you had told me the truth.

Past perfect not used:
Past perfect is not used simply to say that something happened sometimes ago, or to give a past reason to present situation.

I left some photos to be developed, are they ready?[Correct]
I had left some photos to be developed, are they ready?[Incorrect]
He came yesterday.[Correct]
He had come yesterday.[Incorrect]

I capitulate and admit that use of Past Indefinite Tense is correct.

in my opinion perfect tense tab use hota hy jab kam completely finish ho jay means routine work na ho like school jana and khana ......
the best way to explain the difference between perfect and indifnte tense is the uses of urdu waord "tha" .....
agr hum sentence ki translation krain to banta hy "wo kal aya tha" and "wo kal aya" makes no better sense...

am i right???

jab koi kaam past main complete ho jaye tau past indefinite lagta hai. Agar koi kam past main complete na ho tau present perfect lagta hai.
'aya tha' ya 'aya' dono ka ek hi matlab hai.
He came yesterday= wo (guzishta) kal aya/aya tha.
Jab koi kam past main complete ho chuka ho lakin hum us se bhi pehle ki baat kar rahay hon tau past perfect use hoga.
Past perfect ki pehchan hai 'chuka tha'.. Jab hum wahan pohnche tau wo ja chuka tha. When we reached there he had gone.

aya/aya tha= past indefinite.
Aa chuka tha= past perfect.
Is your this sentence correct?
" Is it your belief or you have read
it somewhere ?"
Interesting ! We were discussing something else. You ignored my post about Wren & Martin and straightway attacked an irrelevant thing.I'm here to learn not to win.Your attitude was same as we used to do in childhood. !!
Thora expression bura hai, sentence to theek he hai. Ap log MA English wale kitne keerre nikalte ho yaar. (It's in positive sense). Maafi ni hai aapke kagzoon me to. Shayad Critics ka kam e ye hota hai, Keerrre nikalna. :laughing:laughing
sab aik jese nae hotay.seekhnay aur sikhanay ki khawahish bohat kam hoti hai.ziada tar neecha dikhana maqsood hota hai.
The correct sentence would be like this.
" Is it your belief or have you read it somewhere? "
And we are discussing corrections here. Therefore, the 'keeray nikalna' is an inevitable element here.
And I opine that my correction was just for the sake of correction.
It wasn't aimed at intimidating someone.
That was criticism for sake of criticism.Otherwise you could directly tell me that my sentence was not right.

Argue to learn not to win :tata :tata

sana chudhary Thursday, March 15, 2012 01:52 AM

i think i want to say the thing is just similar to that "chuka"

if we read it like wo kal aya then it dos'nt make the sense of completeness aisy lagta hy k abhi bat mukamal nai hui like wo kal aya aur usny khana khaya or any thing else.....
but wo kal aya tha means the work is complete and no need to more discussion.

any how every one has its own point of view & i said it before that it is my personal opinion ....

regards
