CSS Subject selection
Hy to all aspirants,
I want to take suggestions regarding my optional subjects; I'd opted Chemistry Zoology European history IR in CSS 2020; Now I want to appear in 2022 and my optionals are IR European history Gender studies criminology Anthropology I couldn't score good marks despite having a background in chemistry and zoology so, I decided to change my optionals. What would you all suggest about the scoring trends of these optionals? |

Don't opt technical subjects if you dont have full command over them. Gender studies is a risky subject. I don't have any idea about anthropology. Criminology is a good choice.

Why would you change your subjects whom you have worked on the past years? I would suggest you use new approaches, such as Consulting new books and; Watching video lectures (mostly from Khan Academy).

My marks were 56 in zoology and 110 in chemistry and that's not good. Moreover, I couldn't do a revision of both these subjects to the long syllabus and technicality associated with these subjects. Now, I've adopted criminology, gender studies, and anthropology and almost prepared them but one of the colleges has confused me. She told me once you opt optionals in your first attempt you can't change those subjects in your 2nd attempt. You have to prepare those ones you have already opted in your 1st attempt. This has confused me. Is it true? |

Every one is free to choose their own optional in each attempt I think what your colleague friend meant was that many people stick to almost the same Optionals due to their familiarity with the subjects (As they have already prepared them once) while they will need to start new subject from scratch There is no rule stopping a candidate from using new or changing optionals in their next attempts |

Feel free to choose whatever subject you are comfortable with. Your attempt is bound, not the subjects. |

Sir, have you ever changed optionals in 2nd and third attempt? Or you know someone who has changed courses in 2nd and third attempt. |
