Islam permits democracy bcz islam supports the opinion of masses.Throughtout earlier history of islam,we may find lots of examples where Holy Probhet(PBUH) explicitly favours the opinion of his followers in deciding about various matters like war strategies, relations with other nations, future coarse of action, journeys and migrations etc. At the same time.islam also stresses on morality and sound judgements unlike western democracy where majority has authority without accountability.Islam presents the concept of authority with accountability. so, majority must utilize its authourity in a responsible and correct way for the betterment of mankind. As hazrat Abubakar once said " O ppl! you may follow me as long as I follow the principles of Almighty God.but if I diverge from rules of islam then you dont have any obligation to follow me".
