Assalam Alaikum,
Recent news is that BIG 5 has agreed to send Iran issue to Worthless Council (oops I meant Security Council). I think the western nations will do a lot of bargaining with Russia and China and offer them incentives here and there to come on board to impose sanctions on Iran. Regardless of what takes place in the Worthless Council, my guess will be that sanctions will only pave the way for Iran to speed up its nuclear program. With very many global economies emerging, I think world will have no choice but to deal with Iran for its oil, therefore imposing the economic sanctions will be of no use, good example of that would be the COURRUPTED PROGRAM OF OIL FOR FOOD. After all the econoimic sanctions on Iraq did not made much effect either, if it was not for American invasion Saddam Hussein would still be ruling Iraq in the midst of UN sanctions. PLZ DON"T FORGET TO CHECK OUT NEWSWEEK LATEST EDITION, IT HAS A LOT OF STUFF ON MIDDLE EAST. Thanks. |

All the brothers and sisters have put forward valids points in their debates. Their roles in raising the discussions to higher levels are widely commended.
While perusing one of my dumped newsweek magazines, I came across a paper that reveals that Mahmoud seems to be losing strength in his country due to his ultra-extremist views and unbridled tongue alongwith the predictable aftermath of his uranium enrichment programme. The writer of the article brands Ahmedinejad as 'a Mahdi man' due to his staunch belief in/obsession of the 12th Imam i.e. Imam Mahdi. He is always seen commemorating Imam Mahdi. While he was a mayor, he even constructed a boulevard claiming that Imam Mahdi will traverse on it on his return. (The writer indirectly means that Mahmoud is a 'sick man'). The writer quotes an assistant professor of History of a University in Scotland, Ali Ansari, a political analyst as well, describing the government as "The new government is quite neoconservative and quite hard-line, and that doesn't even do justice to how wacky they are". The same assistant professor describes Ahmedinejad as "very naive politically and out of his depth". (This statement is partially agreed upon by me nevertheless, I see a valid point in the arguments of the brother who talked about 'pressure element'.) Furthermore, the writer proclaims that Ahmedinejad is having conflicts with various wings of the government. A battle between the President and the Guardian Council may be on its way, taking ignition from an statement from a close ally of the President, who says "there will be no need of elections in future once the tailor-proposed [Islamic] government system is establish". This new president seems to be over-riding the revolution of Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979. Looking forward for your opinions in this regard. Regards,

Adil Memon- Ahmedenejad is a head of state and his rhetoric should not be considered from a single viewpoint. As I had mentioned before, Ahmedenejad's speeches have united the Iranians in defiance against the US and what more, Ahmedenejad is gaining more popularity. Recently a western TV channel was showing how people have adopted the "Ahmedenejad jacket" as fashion. He is certainly being admired by the Iranians at large.

Brother Tropican,
I made it very clear in the first line [of second paragraph] of my post that whatever I wrote was reproduced from the Newsweek Magazine. I can understand their biased stance and just wanted to put forth the other side of the story. Bringing in the exegesis of that article in Newsweek, doesn't mean that I agree with that writer. You are absolutely right. And I have even seen people from Iran on BBC saying 'Nuclear Proliferation is the decision of the Nation - even, the President (Government) can not retreat". So have fun Regards,
