Board of Governor(BOG)
Board Of Governor
By an official notice 26 main colleges of the punjab have been handed over to board of governors These are the main and important colleges of Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, jehlaum, chakwal,Sialkot, Sahiwal,Bahawalpur,Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha. The objectives which are told behind the establishment of BOG "To improve the management of institutions and to overcome the financial problems of the institutions by grants and funds." Under Ordinance following powers have been granted to BOG 1_ BOG can sale transferable and non transferable property of the colleges. 2_ It can increase its income by taking grants or even loans from foreign countries. 3_ The powers regarding selection of teachers, their payments and other job formalities would rest with BOG. Following questions arise from the above statements. If it is the An Ordinance why it is enforced only in Punjab instead of all over the country? Why only the main colleges of Punjab come with in the purview of this Ordinance? BOG would be liable to accept all the terms and conditions put forward by those from whom it receives Grant. BOG has the power to assign the principal bodies and heads of the institutions while before the teachers are selected through Competitive exams(PCS). AFTER PRIVITIZING AND GIVEN THE CHARGE OF THE INSTITUTIONS TO THE NGOs What will be the consequences? Either Our educational system would prosper or fall a prey to irregularity under the KIND command and patronage of IMF and WB? members put your opinions sorry for spelling mistakes if there any Regards kainaat |

Yes indeed it needs to be ponder upon.
A great deal of hue and cry is being made on this issue. Where govt seems adament for it , students as wee as teachers are against it. An unfortunate misadventure between police and sudents has brought this issue in limelight and it needs to be seen early. Hope people will ive their objective vie point here , which will help remove confusion among studentys as well as among parents. Regards

Also it is obvious that new management would want only performing teachers to stay and ultimately weed out the non-performers, as that happens in private institutions, so those teachers who have monopolized pedagogy and keep the job only because they are 'permanent employees' have a reason to worry.

I do not understand why they are making such a violence ?
If they are really suffering from the problem then they may choose some feasible way, send notice to the supreme court, use media instead of setting buses on fire or stoning PA. Actually the problem is this system is a change, a change of whole establishment who has been in power since ages and do whatever they want in the colleges, so now this BOG is a nightmare as it is natural phenonmenon that no once accepts such a change in a manner which influences the basic roots. Let them do it, what difference does it make, surely they will do with reformation and new policy. If they do not prove to be benefitial then do whatever you want or need. Always hoop good get best. |

its a good idea of Punjab govt. for taking all the stake holders of the education to take on board in decision making process relevant to their colleges...all the hue and cry is just from that sleeping elements(Teachers and Students) of the colleges who dont want any kind of interruption in their slow easy life.....i have my own friend Professor in a college.... he said keh yaar pehlay bari mauj thi jao yaa na jao... but now biometric machines( Thumb Attendance system) makes it very difficult to avoid college time table.
Most important thing is.. CM Punjab is very committed to revolutionize the education system...but change always resisted by the lazy working class.

BOG is a good step by the Punjab Gov to improve the quality of Education. The problem is that a Student wing of a political party have made hostage the colleges and they see end of their hegemony when the colleges will get autonomous status. For example, they will have to vacate the hostels where they live unlawfully and used them as center of their activities. Creasent hostel of Islamia College, civil lines, Lahore is one example in this regard.
Similarly, there is a group of teachers who seldom go to college and have no interest in attending to their duties. They are also in trouble. So these two groups have joined hands to stop this move of gov. to protect their interests. Jamiat knows it will be the last nail in its coffin and they will lose their power base of fighting and blackmailing the gov. The incompetent teachers know their good days will end and they will have to go home. That is why they are protesting to save their skin, but time has come to purge the education system of these notrious elements for ever. Change is inevitable now.
