EXTREMISM:
It is a term referred to those beliefs, dogmas, doctrines, faiths and actions that are intended to revolt the Quo status and bring an extreme change in political, social and economic structure. They are also termed as Radicals. On Wikipedia this term is defined as
Extremism is a term used to describe the actions or ideologies of individuals or groups outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards. In democratic societies, individuals or groups that advocate the replacement of democracy with a authoritarian regime are usually branded extremists.
Examples are many but extremist are of two types liberal extremists; intend to bring a liberal radical change in existing orders e.g Bolsheviks in Russia, Maoists in China, Chi Guevara in Cuba, Hugo Shaveez in Venezuela. All are librel extremists as they sought to change existing Socio Political order. 2nd conservative Extremists like ethnic groups in Red china, Tribes in Africa and Taliban in Pakistan.

Fundamentalism
It refers to a belief in a strict adherence to a set of basic principles (often religious in nature), sometimes as a reaction to perceived doctrinal compromises with modern social and political life.
Examples are Christian theocratic regimes in Europe, Islamic Extremists. etc etc

Right-hand politicians

Politicians having a great affinity with religion and consider it as a legal code of conduct in politics. Examples are Malana Abual Ala Mododi, Mulana Fazl ur Rehman in pakistan etc etc

Left-hand politicians

Politicians believe in communism as an political Ideology. They believe in class struggle and materialism as the dynamics of progress in the society. Mostly leftists are staunch opponents of religion. They call religion as a fog of deception and Opeune for oppressed classes. In Pakistan Z.A Bhutto, Mao in china, Fedal castro in Cuba, Kim il Sung in north Korea all are left hand politicians.

Apologize for some correction. In my understanding:

Right Hand Politicians:

These are the politicians who wants to have the status quo in the existing political system.

Left Hand Politicians:

These are the politicians who wants to change the status quo and thus change the existing political system.

you are absolutely right.
I just tried to explain them in Pakistani perspective. These terms were coined in the days of French revolution. Rightest were the aspirants of quo status.. Monarchy and theocracy.
Leftest were the Proletarians who were intended to change this order.
In Pakistan however the distinction between the culture and religion is not much defined. Mostly things are interpreted in context of religion.
Definition on Wikipedia for leftist is:
In politics, left-wing, leftist and the Left are generally used to describe support for social change with a view towards creating a more egalitarian society. The terms Left and Right were coined during the French Revolution, referring to the seating arrangement in parliament; those who sat on the left generally supported the radical changes of the revolution, including the creation of a republic and secularization.[1] The concept of a political Left became more prominent after the June Days Uprising of 1848.

The term was applied to a number of revolutionary movements in Europe, especially socialism, anarchism[2] and communism. The term is also used to describe social democracy and social liberalism.[3] Roderick Long, an anarcho-capitalist professor, summarises left-wing politics as "concerns for worker empowerment, worry about plutocracy, concerns about feminism and various kinds of social equality".
