Support the HEC

Sir: I appeal to citizens and members of academia to come to the aid of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which is under intense pressure not to give out details regarding the fake degrees of parliamentarians.

The recent arrest of the brother of HEC’s Chairman Dr Javed Laghari on corruption charges smacks of intimidation and harassment. I salute him for his courage and uprightness. These were methods used by the German Nazis to prosecute their opponents. Pakistan must not be allowed to become a fascist nation. It is suggested that the vice chancellors and professors of all universities register their protest against the arm-twisting techniques being used by the government against the HEC. We must agree on clear principles of merit, fairness and honesty. All those parliamentarians who have fake degrees, double nationality or false asset declarations should, therefore, be tried in the courts and duly punished.

This letter demonstrates the feelings of average Pakistanis. I appeal to all people to support HEC and Mr. Javed Leghari.

the citizens of Pakistan are in deep slumber no body will come to the rescue of HEC chairman. He must suffer. it would have better had the writer appealed to the propagandists: pml.n, media, and other power mongers.

its just a letter,..If Javaid Leghari is involved in corruption then he should face the cosequencesit has become our habit to criticize government..wait and see

All the members are speaking against corruption, nepotism and injustice here but no effect is expected on descion makers as the whole nation has accepted the corrupt ways as normal ways of behaviour by voting the corrupt into power.
If the govt. is putting pressure on the chairman of HEC, one should not be amazed as the character of the present govt. is well known to all of us.
Lets try to change the society and culture by educating our people so that our next generation can choose better leaders.
