ICC should be blamed not our players!!!

Watson blames ICC for Pakistan mess

Thursday, September 02, 2010
From our correspondent
TAUNTON, England: Questions are being asked about the competence of ICC’s anti-corruption body following a ‘spot-fixing’ scandal involving a few Pakistan cricketers that has rocked world cricket.
The latest man to join the chorus against the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is Shane Watson, the Australian allrounder.
Watson, who had confirmed on Tuesday that he had reported two approaches from bookmakers, has questioned ICC’s will to squash the menace of match-fixing.
He stressed that the fact that a newspaper unearthed the latest ‘spot-fixing’ scandal was a proof that ICC’s existing system to keep cricket clean was unsuccessful.
“That’s totally to do with the ICC, so they really need to step in and really get to the bottom of it. Maybe they don’t want to get to the bottom of it because it might run too deep,” he said.
Salman Butt, Pakistan’s Test captain, and his team-mates Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir are at the centre of a ‘spot-fixing scandal’ that was triggered by a few no-balls bowled by the pacers during last week’s fourth and final Test between Pakistan and England at Lord’s.
Watson hoped that the crisis is sorted out “as soon as possible” to maintain cricket’s credibility. “People might turn away from cricket because they don’t know (whether) what they are seeing is actually the true facts of cricket,” he said.
Watson, meanwhile, said that he feels for the 18-year-old Amir adding that the pacer is “young, naive and innocent”.
“I do have a lot of respect for the way he plays on the field,” said Watson. “I found him to be a brilliant competitor, he always gave everything he’s got every single time I competed against him.
“I found him to be an extremely skilful bowler for a 18-year-old, I probably feel for him more than anyone because he’s only 18 years old — young, naive and innocent, and he’s a really nice guy.
“Unfortunately he’s caught up in something, whether it’s in their culture I’m not exactly sure. I don’t know how deep it runs. It’s unfortunate that someone of his skill has got tied up with something that is damaging to cricket.
Watson said that it would be unfortunate the scandal results in a life ban for Amir.
“But if the allegations are true, he’ll probably get a life ban which is unfortunate for Amir, who is at the start of his career.”

Prime Minister of pakistan was ashamed when this allegation was in its starting phase. The PM statement forced me to contribute in this thread with my point of view.

Now things are clarified, Prime Minister of Pakistan must direct Pakistani High Commission London to issue the proceeding against English Media and weavers of this conspiracy in English Courts.

@tx_ned
agree wid u. before English media the proceeding should take place against our own biased media specially Geo Tv which sometimes look as subsidiary of Star News. Scotland Yard Police is investigating the case!!!Is Scotland Yard Police trustworthy? They haven't even solved Diana's case as yet.If they can't solve their own princesses case then how can we trust on their report?
The point I want to make is that our media wid foreign media hype issues. Have our media raised the issue where our top army officials were insulted at American airport,if yes, then how much?
We as Pakistanis should stand by our cricket team. Thanks 2 Watson who talked against ICC which our Pakistani even don't dare to speak.

The decision of ICC to throw these players out of the international cricket scene is absolutely appropriate. There is a higher probability that a spot fixer or group of spot fixers can fix the whole match as well. Asif, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Salman Butt are the kings of this dirty game and they should immediately be removed from the team otherwise many new players like Muhammad Amir will be spoiled and destroyed
