i am facing considerable difficulty in understanding 18th Amendment,petitions challenging some sections of it.How has 18th Amendment made conspicuous the clash between Judiciary and Executive?
Which clauses and articles have been challenged?
What are the remedies?

please provide some useful information and if available a suitable link.Thank you

18th amendment has been challenged in SC regarding the insertion of article 175 – A, which states that it is made for political gains. The petitioner says that new procedure of appointment of judges will make judiciary dependent on parliament.

Moreover, another petition is about intra-party election which maintains that there should not be dynastic politics and every party should conduct intra party elections. Renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is challenged as well. .

“The newly introduced procedure of appointing judges is incomplete and can create crises; secondly, it does not even match the procedure set out in the Charter of Democracy,” – Justice Javed Iqbal

Matter is before the 17 members’ bench of Supreme Court; let us wait for the decision of SC. Perhaps SC will suspend the article 175 – A or find out another way to avert the constitutional crisis
