The world in 2050: Impact of global growth on carbon emissions
A very interesting Read:
The world in 2050: Impact of global growth on carbon emissions Link: http://www.pwc.com/gx/en/world-2050/...2050carbon.pdf This report was produced by PwC in advance of the Stern Review report published in the UK on 30 October 2006. The rapid economic growth of emerging countries such as China and India—together with continued more moderate growth in today’s advanced economies—could have serious long-term consequences for global energy consumption and carbon emissions. The projections demonstrate that if countries sit back and adopt a "business as usual" approach, the result could be a more than doubling of global carbon emissions by 2050. Based on current scientific thinking, this could have potentially serious longer term implications in terms of global warming and related climate change. On the other hand a scenario such as the "Green growth plus" strategy outlined in the report could allow for continued healthy growth whilst controlling carbon emissions. |

@Hamza salick:
"Ice age is marked by presence or expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers".so,Yes!by definition we are living in an Ice age.Global warming is something different from the intermittent warm periods aka interglacials. @Redmax: Yes!Algore's 'Inconvenient Truth' is a serious hyperbole. By the by Ozone has nothing to do with Global warming,it's greenhouse gases emitted from industries etc that are responsible for the very phenomenon. |

Scientists say that instead or 'global warming',the term used should be 'Rapid climate change'..The temperature readings from 1850s onwards show that in many areas of the world,there actually has been a decrease in average temperatures.In others,there has been a negligible increase.

Green house gases comprise mainly of carbon dioxide,since it's a water soluble gas and its solubility increase exponentially with rise in temperature[1],The air above equator and adjoining areas abounds in water vapor and temperatures are high,poles and the higher altitudes on the contrary have low water vapor(dry air) and temperature,hence CO2 gas seems to have occupied the equator and the adjoining areas and hence made a thicker layer over these areas.that's why these regions incur a great rise in temperature.and vice versa? This is my own logic,may be right,may be wrong. [1]http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/gases-solubility-water-d_1148.html |

there is great anomaly in temperatures distribution,contrary to my hypothesis.

Allow me to make some assumptions. Take for instance the odd events that surfaced last year and earlier this year, including heatwave in Russia, Floods in China & Pakistan. Sri Lanka was no exception either. Many other countries witnessed unusual behaviour of the seas and winds in their territories. To the bewilderment of a laymen, a number of writers in the newspaper associated these changes with the 'Global Warming'. However, these phenomena are basically part of seasoning process as the recorded history tells us. The climate change is quite normal as is seasoning. Whether the ozone has really got a hole in it, whether the carbon level has reached to alarming level on the earth or not is only a matter of time when this balloon will be deflated.
