hmm...I would also like to know the Solid Logical Reasons behind opposition of Bhasha or any DAM. I Think mega-structures like Dams, Road, etc are national assets upon which the economy of a country thrives. Dams are our national need, whole country will benifit from them, not just one province. We should encourage such projects......

Dear make it clear that on which level Sind is opposing Bhasha? As far as i know Mangla Dam is constructed over Jehlum River and Bhasha is proposed on Indus. So, from an agricultural point of view, Sindh is not directly affected by the dam over Jehlum. On the contrary, any Large Dam like that of Bhasha may curtail the water flow and ulimately the water resources required for the crops in Sindh. At the same time, the downstream water flow below KOTRI gets affected by the construction of large Reserviors on Indus.

Unfortunately, in Pakistan all such projects fall a prey to politics. The politicians, at the expense of national interests, exploit the situation to extract their political benefits. Their mean vested interests are causing the land of the pure to suffer. Sindh apprehends that the construction of any such dam would turn their lands barren, the saline water from the sea would infiltrate upto the Kotri Barrage and the Mangrove Forests along the coastal areas would be negatively affected. However, given a thorough study over these claims, all these anticipations prove meaningless. Indeed, these dams if built would uplift the agriculural production in Sindh. In addition, the energy crises would be coped. Moreover, the Mangrove forests grow well under saline conditions and so their growing rate would rather augment. The most controversial Kala Bagh Dam could not materialize because of Sindh's opposition coupled with KP's reservations. KP had reservations regarding the displacement of population in Swabi and Mardan. Further, the electricity generating apparatus was supposed to be installed at Punjab, and thus, would have been benefitted of royalty. Therefore, a consensus could not be developed and the nation had to suffer. |

Solid Reasons
Sindh is opposing such Dams like Bhasha and Kala Bagh etc. because the Dams are constructed to store surplus waters, but Pakistan has not sufficient waters to make storage of them, and if it is there, then after the completion of Indian project of chain of dams in Occupied Kashmir, then here will be deserted and dry situation in the country, so no need will be left to construct any Dam.
While making any storage of water on river Indus before its entering in Sindh, causes the fear of cutting short of the supply of water to Sindh. Such like dams will also badly effect the eco-system in Sindh. and many other political reasons. Actually it is the failure of our Federal Governments, who have never been successful in bringing all the provinces in their confidence. The promises made by previous Federal Governments with provinces on construction of Mangla and old Dams have yet not been fulfilled. That is why provinces have not any trust on Federal Promises.

Sorry to say that some Sindhi nationalist only try to do politics on water issue. They do not want any dam on indus river. I can only advise those Sindhi that they should ask international water and dam experts about constrution of different dams on Indus river. Construction of new dams are very important for Sindh.

Thank You everyone for your useful inputs on the topic. By reading your comments, I can conclude that there in not a single big issue that cannot be solved by mutual understanding and discussion by the provinces, its just a matter of building confidence in each other, just trusting in ourselves....We must not think like ""This province will benefitted most or this provinces will be adversely affected.."" we must think that Pakistan will be benifitted...nation will prosper...
