REality is that ours is a rent seeking society.Take the example of postoffice personnel even charging 50-100rs for tracking status of poor bisp aspirants.To blame only politicians is too simplistic.Moreover we have also got variants of institutionalised corruption eg 10percent quote for armed forces in Civil service.However i do agree that eradication has to be TOP-DOWN.

Dont you see a poor man selling tomatoes on road side involved in corruption?
All the food items coming to you home are of really good quality?
have your ever been to a govt office for some work?
do u believe that all teachers are doing their job with honesty?
do u believe that our sports is on merit?
do u believe that jobs (mostly) are on merit? can you enter to an NGO without reference?
And there are many instances. Just observe.
Can you solve your property matter easily from a Tehsil?

o bibi ji kya bat karti hen ap. it is the reality that as a nation we are corrupt. ye apnay bachon ko pani wala doodh pilany wali qoam ha, gosht mein pani inject kr k uska wazan barhany wali qoam ha, infact ye qoam to ha hi nai chand logon ka aik hajom ha jin ki koi direction nai ha. agar leaders corrupt hein to inko vote ham dety hen then we are more corrupt than these leaders. or phir kaha jata ha k ye govt america ki marzi say ai, ye 18 cror bhair bakriyan hen kia jinhon nay inko vote dia ha. hamara masla ye ha ham reality ko accept ni karty

We're a corrupt nation indeed. If we were not, we would not have been in stone age era. As Islah-G said it's like universal truth. But we can change if we want.

lot of discussion is already done well i would like to contribute some from my humble knowledge, experiences and observations.
What is the meaning of corruption?
Does a man holding the throne of nation could only do corruption or the people on elite and executive posts could only do it? The thing is power and authority the scenario is everyone is doing corruption with in the powers he or she have. President as more powerful among all so we blame him only for corruption if he is more powerful among the nation his corruptions would be also out of the limit but remember within his limits out of ours. What about us? what are we doing we all are doing corruption within our limits. If teacher is not delivering with devotion he is corrupted, if scholar is not interested in eradicating the social menaces prevailing in our societies he is corrupt. If you and me are not meeting with our assigned responsibilities we are corrupt. So, In short corruption is a biggest threat to our nation which impedes the progress of our country. I think we should start thinking from bottom not from peak as the revolutions always emerge from bottom not from the highest point of society.
