In Sura Yasin in verse 69 the Quran says: “We have not instructed the (Prophet) in poetry, not is it meet for him; this is no less than a message and a Quran making things clear.” Surah Ash-Shuara verse 24-27 224 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 225 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 226 And that they say what they do not do. 227 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. |

now look at all these Verses and then read the poetry of Iqbal...
you will see that Iqbal's poetry is according to the teachings of Islam, and you will find that Iqbal was more a Muslim and more lover of ALLAH ALMIGHTY then today we are.

"Aur Hum Nay Apnay Paighambroon Ko Shair Goye Nahi Sikhaye, Na Ye Unko Shayaan Hai, Ye To Khuli Khuli Naseehat Hai". I prefer to learn my Islam under the lights of Sayings and the Life of the Prophet (SAW) and take Iqbal's Poetry as mere Poetry and not essence of Islam, because If I am to have a teacher, why not Muhammad (SAW), who actually acted upon what he preached. What Iqbal did, besides from writting Baang a Dara and "Sab say Acha Hindustaan Hmaara". |

Dear Ahmed786Khan
I respect your feelings and love for the Prophet (PBUH) brother..you want to take him as a teacher..thats really impressive, mashaAllah.. but my dear the Prophet (PBUH) was humble and polite and i am sure he would have listed to others patiently..i am not commenting on your point of view but the font of your text and your aggressive manner of talking in i believe in negation with the politeness you intend to follow.. so plz be a bit patient and then give your point of view.. and no offence plz! cheers! |

dear as you have mentioned verse of Surah Yasin....
it was about the Quran... which disbelievers criticised ... and ALLAH tells that this is not poetry this is advise for all the Human kind... and this is true that Prophets get information directly from ALLAH through "WAHI" ... and what about Iqbal is that he interpreted the sayings of Prophet (PBUH) and Quran in his poetry..... Yes this is true that MUHAMMAD PBUH) is best among all the men and HIS SUNNAH is a best source and way of life for every person. Now check what is the theme of poetry of IQBAL Ki Muhammad se wafa tu ne to hum tere hain yeh jahan cheez hay kia loh qalam teray hain na ho na ummed, na umeedi zawal e ilm o irfan hay umeed mard e momin hay KHUDA ka raazdano main Guzr ja aqal se aagay keh yeh noor charag e raah hay manzil nahi hay yeh raaz kisi ko nazr nahi aata keh momin qari nazar aata hay haqeeqat main hay quran and last but not the least تو غنی از ھر دو عالم من فقیر روزِ محشر عذر ھائے من پذیر گر (ور) حسابم را تو بینی نا گُزیر از نگاہِ مصطفیٰ پنہاں بگیر

I have adequate respect for Allama Iqbal, and consider his poetry as more of "Lahoo Garm Rakhnay Ka Hai Ek Bahana", rather than trying to deduct doctrines for spirutual completeness of my inner self, because, if we are too seek guidance, it should come from Hadith, which is clear, precise and to the point. The lectures of Dr Israr Ahmed give me more pleasure than Iqbal's poetry, not to say that Iqbal is wrong, but the poetry as a medium of interpretation of Islamic Philosophy, might actually not be what orthodoxy requires from us.

Ahmed Fraaz is also someone who I enjoy, if it comes to poetry; Zindagi Par Is Say Bhar Kar Aur Tanz Kya Hoga Fraaz Uska Ye Kehna Kay Tou Shayar Hai Dewaana Nahi Not to forget Ghalib; Ye Masail-a-Tasawuf Ye Taira Byaan Ghalib Tujhay Hum Wali Samjhatay Jo Na Baada Khaar Hota |
