Default What is to become of our nation?

Yesterday, a mullah in a local madrassa here in Mansehra, declared jihad against the participants of a peaceful procession of Eid Milad-un-nabi. Consequently, according to the latest reports, 2 of the participants of the procession left for their heavenly abode, 15 others are seriously injured.

For me, all the other issues that we are facing as a nation can be solved, at least on paper, but issues like these...what to do with them?

Dunya News: Pakistan:-Mansehra: 7 injured in clash between two groups...

Well, the escalating sectarianism in Pakistan does not bode well for its stability and security. We are already suffering from ethnic problems and the growing sectarianism further frays an already egregious condition, and the ensued weakness makes us no more a big deal for our enemy. It will only assist our enemies to dominate over us through "divide and rule" policy. In view of the incidence quoted by you, a saying of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a recall here, that is "The character of a true Muslim is that he/she does not hurt his/her fellow Muslim physically and orally".

Regards

Right. But how can we rid ourselves of this epidemic? Though I know it will take some ousting, can't we have an (govt) agency that could dole out discipline and 'the rule of law' among these religious groups? These ethnocentric mullahs have ruined us.

How a government agency will be able to control these things, when our government representatives themselves are not well-disciplined, samina khawar Hayat is the recent example who used abusive language on a prestigious forum, i.e Punjab assembly, a forum whose purpose should be the betterment of its people, anyhow as far as religious leaders are concerned, it's now the responsibility of their followers not to follow them blindly, we all are sensible enough to know that who is right and who is wrong.

Religious groups should take action against these stereotype mullahs and their doctrines, otherwise it will be danger for muslims,Pakistan and Islam.....everyone should be tolerant enough to accept difference of opinion........

We could have a specialized agency, a ministry, an institution, dedicated to perform these functions. Not a single institution in Pakistan can boast of 100% efficiency, but 'something is better than nothing' so to speak. Apart from that we have a number of NGOs working in various parts of the country to raise awareness about education, family planning and the likes but there is none that could teach these standard bearers of Islam and their blind followers.

The heads/high gods of these religious groups have access to higher circles of the Govt. The man in picture here, for one, has access to some provincial ministers. He did everything at the behest of a provincial minister.

It's an ideal situation, and we wish that we have such kind of authority in the future, which is acceptable to all and authentic one as well....it can be a religion-political setup, but members should be credible and should have good reputation among people.

Yeah. It's high time that we had one.

Footnote: Some people might think that I'm siding with a particular sect here. I'm not.

I was scathing in his(the mullah) criticism for I couldn't stand the sight of young madrassah students chanting, "Aljihad Aljihad" and pelting stones and shooting fire on un-armed, Muslim brother participants of the procession. Nor I was in the procession(In fact I've never chanced to). Though the epicenter of the issue is a quarter of a mile from my home. I couldn't go there out of sciatic nerve pain. Can't walk or move . I got all the news from my students in college and my friends one of whom has received an injury in his leg.

no agency no government no nothing will be able to do anything under the present circumstances because the problems you are pointing to lies in the minds of people and people form the society, society shapes politics, politics shapes the state and ultimately state shapes the nation; so rest assure any problem of people will be inherited by any social interaction they perform. main to kehta hoon conscription law impose karke pure mulk ke 17 se 21 saal ke nojawano ko 3 saal ke liye lazmi foj main bharti karen taake jab wahan se thudde kha ke niklen ge na to sab ke hosh thikane honge puri zindagi ke liye discipline aa jaaye gaa aur mehnat karne ki bhi kuch aadat par jaaye gee sab ko . waise hee idhar udhar maare maare phirte hain her waqt jugar kaa sochte hain aur aakhir main kisi mullah yaa siasatdan kee baaton main aa ke larte jhagarte yaa road block karke bethe hote hain

Well, many of our religious practices are based on false interpretation of Islam- people are not completely known to its real shape The so-called Mullahs that we mostly depend on for knowledge on any religious matters have made Islam a source of their income instead of a responsibility. The first thing we need to do is to study and understand Islam ourselves and question these Mullahs on all issues. It is their duty to convey what is correct and our right to know what is reality. ALLAH has insisted upon and encouraged contemplation and research of at many places in the Holy Quran by saying that there are signs in it for the man of understanding. We should learn ourselves. Once we learn to probe into the matter, no Mullah can trick you into his rhetoric.
The specialized body as suggested by you is too a viable option- the body should include renowned and trustworthy Islamic scholars, and other learned people who can address the religious issues across the board. However ethnocentrism will retain unless the people remain unaware of actual form of Islam...

regards
