Question

India must also pay heed to pending conflicts.

yes this 1 point which is problematic for me ..........which i am unable to understand .........how much India is sincere in all these to solve these conflicts?

there is also a difference in currency value of India and Pakistan then what is the medium of trade(means currency)?

there is soo much power shortage we are facing are we in condition to compete?

what benefits we get from MFN after 1996?

yes i agree that according to WTO it is for the betterment of trade relations between neighbouring countries .........but if the neighbours are not rival from the birth?

why previous Govt not think about it? and why it is so compulsory at once?

regards

Trust deficit is the biggest problem of both countries. They are considered arch-rivals and it is not a mere illusion if we see ground realities.
But the thing is someone has to take the first step to initiate trust-building.This is called diplomacy.
Now we assume that India,Israel and USA are not sincere with us so we should not have any sort of contact or contract with them. This is not a wise approach.

As i said earlier,in international politics, there are no permanent foes or friends.National interests should be the foremost priority not ego.Nations automatically come close to those which can benefit their interest. You know sort of selfish approach
India also has a dream to become super-power or at least Asian giant. It is not only a need of Pakistan to establish good relations with its neighbors but also of India.

No,it didn't happen at once.Pakistan is ruled by military or quasi-democratic governments since its inception. It has not tasted true democracy.Military(of both sides) has its own interests in keeping a hostile environment.
During the golden era for democracy in Pakistan which we call "decade of democracy(1988-99)we clearly saw a sudden change in Indo-Pak relations. This is the period when India gave Pakistan MFN's status.Pakistan could have given it the same privilege after considering its national interests but our military again interfered and you know the rest.

Well,i don't know any technical thing about it.Those who are doing trade must have devised some way.

again a very valid point but the thing is we are lacking in so many sectors and in so many things does that mean we should stop participating in everything because we have shortage of this and that.
This is the concern of government. They must do something about it otherwise we will lag behind India.
And as we all know that Pakistan is rich in all sort of resources and we can generate so much electricity only if we have a will to do so.But due to this factor we must not loose a golden opportunity to build a healthy relationship with India.

Yes,we couldn't get much out of it in the past.Exports of Pakistan only worth $286 Million whereas Indian exports reach $1.4 billion.
One reason is their huge economy.
Pakistan has demanded the removal of non-tariff barriers, which is the major hurdle for Pakistani exports,as a condition to grant this status to India.
So hopefully after its implementation or approval things will get better.

We should also compare the two economies. It will only add in already increasing trade imbalance.

Our industries can not compete with them in current energy stricken conditions. Nonetheless, if all the problems are resolved.

And I agree that there are benefits too.
