Default Akhter Mengal 6 points

Akhter Mengal gives 6 points for Baluchistan reconcilation process.. He claims that his 6 points are no different from Sheikh Mujib's 6 point agenda, which he gave some 43 yrs ago.. Serious times ahead for our politicians

We learn from the history that we learn nothing. This quote clearly paints the abysmal picture of Pakistan. We have just become addicted to commiting mistakes and then repeating them time and again. Fall of DHaka is matter of national shame for us . Every 16th december comes with tragic notes of this fall. HOwever , much remains to be learnt from these mistakes.
Power politics has unfortunately pushed PAkistan into the current abysmal state. Those at helm of affairs are busy in perpetuating their power with no time to concentrate on core issues.

Default Akthar Mengal's 6 points

I wonder weather history is repeating itself again when "6-points agenda " echoed in the premises of Pakistan's apex court yesterday. This time it was articulated by Balochistan's former chief minister and BNP president Sardar Akthar Mengal. Keeping in view the significane of the situation and subject I am posting 6 ponts here :

1. All covert and overt military operations against Baloch people should be stopped immediately.

2. All missing persons should be brought before the court of law.

3. All the death squads operating in the province under the auspices of intelligence agencies should end.

4. All the political parties in the pronvine should be allowed to function without interference of spy agencies.

5. Those who are envolved in east Pakistan-style killing and dumping operations against Baloch politicians should be brought to justice.

6. Measures should be taken to rehabilitate the displcad Balochs.

I must confess that these are worrying signs for all of patriotic Pakisanis. There seems to be a conscious efforts on part of Mengal to create a link between unfortunate disintegration of 1971 and prevailing conditions with which Balochistan is faced with today.
Since Balochistan Issue is always an important topic in both current affairs and Pakistan affairs papers. So i would like my knowledgeable forum members to critically analyse aforementioned 6-points.

i concur Sir.. At the same time, i think we should not play down his demands. We have no option but to learn from our past history.. Given the fact, and the shame of surrendering to Indian army, those concerned usually are of the view that EAST PAKISTAN was so geographically distant from West Pakistan that it was difficult to have a proper governance there.. This time no one will buy any such foolish and obnoxious statements.. Its time we seriously pay attention to the woes of Baluchistan.

Default Mengal's Six points

Sardar Akhter Mengal, former Chief Minister of Baluchistan has presented his Six point agenda to control the ever worsening Law and Order situation in the Province. To one it will remind Mujib's Six points which paved the way for dismemberment of East Pakistan from rest of the Country. Seems like Politicians, Military agencies haven't learn a lesson from the past shameful debacle, yet they are at it again. The wheel of history have reached to the point from where it started on 16 Dec, 1971. Same are grievances and concerns against Military/Politicians as were in case of East Pakistan.

Citing Mengal's Six points charter here for reference.

According to the charter, all covert and overt military operations against Baloch people should be ended immediately; all missing persons should be procuredbefore a court of law; all proxy death squads operating in a manner like Al Shams and Al Badar operated (in Bangladesh) allegedly under the supervision of InterServices Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) should be disbanded; Baloch political parties should be allowed to function and resume their political activities without any interference from intelligence agencies; persons responsible for inhuman torture, killing and dumping of bodies of Baloch political leaders and activists should be brought to justice; and measures should be initiated for rehabilitation of thousands of displaced Baloch living in appalling condition.

`It is imperative (for the government) to take my six point plan seriously and implement it, or to part ways. Instead of shedding each other`s blood, it will be more appropriate to say goodbye in a cordial way,` Akhtar Mengal said, adding that his plan should not be considered different and less important than the six points of Sheikh Mujib.

How one would differ Mengal's Six points plan to Mujib's Six points in view of current scenario?

Akhtar Mengal has very conveniently ignored the massacre of Punjabis that's been going on for the last 8-10 years. I and my family shifted to Punjab things got really bad, but a lot of people we knew, some of whom had been settled in Quetta for generations had to sell their houses for half price and literally run for their lives. A guy we knew was on his way to the airport to come to Lahore when he was shot dead by his own business partner (who then proceeded to take over his business and threatened his family to keep quiet).

Its easy to "feel the plight of the Baloch" when you haven't seen the atrocities they have committed. And if Akhtar Mengal wants to compare Baluchistan to Bangladesh, then he should know that this time, there won't be any India to save them.

it is stupid to compare baluchistan with east pakistan... east pakistan was a home of some 80million people while baluchistan is home of just 8million.. east pakistan was some 1000miles away from west pakistan while baluchistan is well connected to the body of pakistan.. so no chances that these bugtis or mengals can get their indepedence.. these traitors are exploiting conditions just to get their objectives done at the behest of india and usa... pak army should nip these evils to purify baluch land

no doubt mengal,s six points are valid to some extant because Pakistan has been involved in so called war on terrorism raised by anti islam forces. If we check the record , it becomes obvious that the boloch land is not facing such grave and grim issues like today after the 9/11. Pakistan should decide that this is not our war .
