Wsalam,

Really nice topic for discussion. Well i think one should know english and would be able to speak and write it appropriately because it is an international language. We may learn it as a second language. It will help us out in the time of need.

There are many other rationales, i will add by and by.

English is the basic need for communication in the modern times of Globalization. Infact all the languages have their own importance, but English is most important of all, as it is being used as an international language. SO not only while being across the borders we need it, but also while being at home, coz if we don't know it we cant have access to a major part of knowledge (which is available in the form of printed version or in digital mode). And most important of all English is the easiest language to learn so it's not a big deal even to have a good command over it in order to understand the western world.

Agreed to Qurat & I M possible.

In this modern era no one can deny the importance of English, especially in Pakistani society where a person can exist only with developed skills of this language. Css examination is an example of this for which hardwork + developed English skills are pivotal.
At the global level also, importance of this language can not be ignored. This age is age of globalization & as Eng is considerd international language so it is becoming indispensable for every one.

No doubt english is the language of knowledge and globalization.China is said to be having more english speaking population than america.For the people in the third world english is the synonymous of enlightenment.In call centres people with convent style of english are welcomed with huge salaries.Even multinationals require their employees to be fluent in english.People surfing internet always take help of english language as their medium of communication.Along with that it is the languge of all the international forums and electronic media.English languge has rich treasure of literature discussing multitude of situations and problems which human beings encounter in routine life.
