Default 'victims of life'
You may have heard the sentence"Victim of death".Have you ever observed that who is the victim of life?,
yes!,we all are the victim of life.
According to the situation through which we are passing,'victim' is the perfect word.People in the 20th century are the complete victim of tension and worries.
The developing world is making us more confused day by day,No one is satisfied with their life and almost every one is suffering from some kind of problem.
In another case being a victim of today's life is advantageous as it's an ultimate result of the competition among people but, the specific output is hyper-tension.
Every one wants more than what we have.This is not right!.Struggling for snatching more is never considered as right.
We may struggle for going ahead in regard to a established community but,the world today is just falling in the situation of confusion.
Problem of jobs,domestic problems and personal matters etc.Life today has become a big problem.
It's never a problem if we just try to handle the things in a proper way.We should be relaxed while we are suffering from some problem,Now a days,'suicide' has become much common.
What's all this?,it's just because life has become a burden for us.
Life is a blessing from God,it was never a burden.We all must think over it,why are we being the victim of life?,we should be the best part of the life.Life is a precious gift from God,we should specify it's value.
Don'r loose hope if you loose something,struggle more and more to reach your destiny.Don't let yourself be the 'victims of life'.

I completely agree with you except in that I also believe that we were never different from what we are now. We just think that we are living in extraordinarily uncommon situation while in reality who knows if people of all ages have been thinking in those terms.

Just read some memorable lines by Beckett from "Waiting for Gogot" and enjoy:

Pozzo: (Lyrically.) The tears of the world are a constant quantity. For each one who begins to weep, somewhere else another stops. The same is true of the laugh. (He laughs.) The play “Waiting for Godot” has a universal appeal. The tramps represent all humanity. Their sufferings are the sufferings of all human being, no matter in which country they live in or what religious beliefs they have. They reflect modern man’s loneliness, absurdity, forgetfulness, illusions, deferred hope, meaninglessness, inaction, physical suffering and mental anguish, death-wish and isolation.

As I see it they reflect not "modern man" but "man". Calling them modern phenomenon is to restrict the meaning of the play. This was my point in posting the above dialogue. Plz read again

They reflect not modern man's hopeless situation but the absurdity of all human existence.
But of course you might have a different opinion on it.
