There was not just a single reason for the partition but various reasons , few of them have been mentioned by you.
Taking all the reasons along would make a better judgement.

AOA.

I guess u have mentioned the roots of the differences among the political leaders then. the political scenario then was the main reason, the condition of the muslims then was begging for a separate homeland for them in the same land. the main reason was not the safeguard of the muslims in the sub-continent but for the Islam. thats what i think. lets see what u have in mind.

@sumairs

dear apart from the reasons u mentioned above,i would like to add a few more.

1- restrictions for muslims in involvement in high level govt. jobs.
2- no seperate schools for muslims.
3- compulsion on muslim children to bow gandhi's pic i-e no seperate identity of muslim students.

4- favourtism of britishers towards hindus
5- the only choice of petty jobs for muslims
6- to safeguard basic rights
7- promotion of english language as official, which is still dominant
8- jobs given to only those who knew english language
9- promotion of christianity by christian missionaries
10- domination of western /british culture
11- loosing of eastern golden cultural values and traditions

12- transfer of raw material to england...and returnig back as finished goods at a more high rates..

The last point u mentioned abt. ignorance in muslims...i think they were not ignorant, infact they were fully aware of the discrimination and inequity done to them, and this awareness eventually provoked them to raise voice for a seperate homeland...

hope i am able to give the right reasons!
regards

13- britishers established such a curriculum which was according to thier own culture, and idelogy...i-e they were trying to mould our children according to their desires...

14- negative projection of muslim/mughal history, in order to impart a bad effect on muslim children of their own rulers, while they highlighted themselves as best...

If We, Muslims was not ignorant then why we didnt up raise our voice before the VOICE raised by QUAID-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, Why after the Quaid-e-Azam we raised our voice and ask for a seperate homeland, they Quaid-e-Azam was studied outside the India, that's why he recognize that Its injust with Muslims, that's why he raised voice for seperate

@ Sumairs

You have been rightly answered in a scholarly manner by honourable members.

From my side a non serious answer of your question is that it was just the beginning of "Nuclear Fission" in which a heavy nucleus divided into two smaller one's. But this process was "controlled" by POWER as many freedom movements were crushed after that both in Pakistan and India ,so no further division was witnessed except separation of East Pakistan

And a serious answer to your question is that IT WAS JUST THE DEMAND OF TIME. It may had roots in centuries but it was not planned from centuries. It was just a timely act by Muslim political leaders of sub-continent on the foot steps of Muhammad Bin Qasim, as his fruitful attack on Debal was also not pre-planned but it was wise in all respects.

I hope you have been answered by me too

Regards,
DDDD
