Default do we really need democracy?

it is common talk that we need democracy. i ask a question y we need democracy.? in my openion democracy is nothing itself. i m not saying dictatorship is best for pakistan. The thing that we really need is better policy.this better policy can be given by democrats or by dictators. we have to build pakistan . definitely u will say there is no choice for army in administration. while the reality is if ur democrats r not working well, there must be someone to overtake them. it's the only choice.if the things go well all everyone will mind his business.
u r supposed to comment on this topic :
do we really want democracy?

It's a bitter fact that the whole system lags behind.

A dictator would always try to supress the voice of others which raise against his descissions.
What really needs to be done is to amend the policies and have a thorough check. Take history and you will see every one has tried change the constitution with what ever means possible.

it dosent matter if we have a democracy or a dictatorship as long as the democratic leader or the dictator is sincere to his country...............all that matters is the effort he puts in for his country and for his people............

if we read history, we find that if a leader was strong and sincere, then his country thrived and was progressive...........take islamic history for example............a strong leader who was sincere and diligent in his duties made great progress and the muslim ummah benefited..........on the other hand, a weak leader only gave rise to turmoil and chaos............

so, in my opinion, the democratic government must be strong and sincere enough to work for the benefit of this country(which wont happen) and a dictator should be brave and diligent enough to make our country a progressive one(which might just happen).................u people take ur pick

We need
*A true and sincere leader who could lead the nation
*An entirely new system where every one should have some limits
*Uprooting of family politics
*Elimination of power politics

I am very much surprised to see most of the forum member supporting and advocating the dictators and dictatorship and many of them are arguing that only a dictator can lead our country to prosperity. Does it make sense, can anyone trace a single example from all over the world that any dictator has done any good for any country.
I think the worst democracy is better than the autocracy.
We are suffering because our system is based on autocratic rules, public have no say in decisions made for country. Could a country be prosperous without the participation of public?

Some facts and questions for the supporters of autocracy for Pakistan.
1 -Ayyub khan took over in 1958 and ruled the country with supreme authority, even he defeated Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah ( mother of nation) with a pre planned rigging and highly organized fraud elections (basic democracies). He worked for USA and USSR became an enemy of Pakistan which ended in the breakup of Pakistan.
2 -Yahya Khan followed him, what has he given to Pakistan everyone could find in the Hamood ur Rehman Commission report.( for reference). He let the awami league and Mujeeb ur Rehman rig the elections ( Mujeeb has promised to accept him as president in uniform) and all this ended in the breakup of Pakistan.(reference witness to surrender by Siddique Salik - an army commissioned officer who later died in Zia ul Haq plane crash).
3 – Zia ul Haq illegally threw Bhutto out of power and hanged him for a murder case.(even the judges who made the verdict of hanging and army later accepted that Bhutto was innocent ) Bhutto was the single leader Pakistan has produced in last 60 years, even his bitter enemies accept his achivements for Pakistan.Ziaul Haq promoted religious extremism and so called mujahideen groups who fought for USA against USSR. What Pakistan has gained from this fight making whole world unipolar? The answer is terrorism, Talbanization, extremism and Kalashnikov culture. He took on a state of no return, now Pakistan is fighting against the same mujahideen again for USA.
4 - General Musharraf took ever and what he has done is open for everyone
*A very large area of our country is under curfew
*USA has thrice attacked our very own land (national integrity) without prior information
* Baluchistan is under threat from all corners
*Attacks are being launched on our Armed Forces.
*Extremists are killing and dictating people in even the high protected area Islamabad
*Pakistan has become 4th highest corrupt country
*We have jeopardized our national integrity and national boundaries just for fighting for USA in war against terrorism (this is the gain)

Many wrong doing to be highlighted but no need to that , can anyone deny these facts. If all these are facts than why to support dictators. No doubt that politicians are also corrupt but all the important developments made in Pakistan are made during democratic Period.
Are you thinking yes! Keep thinking .

yup, I agree... Democracy is NOT a divine doctrine, but, is treated so in this age. Why? It's just a human made idea which can have flaws. But, the moment anyone criticizes or denounces democracy, he is labeled a misanthrope, hater of nation, an extremist communist, or fundamentalist, or the 9,999 other labels coined by Western writers.
