Default My GRE experience and Advice to newbies

@ Marlatif
THANK YOU

The online resources are designed and compiled by less experienced and less Qualified people. The real test (GRE conducted by ETS) is very much researched and throughly reviewed sort of thing.so, you must consult very closely designed material for cracking GRE. Here is my experience and research of GRE test and about material.

If some one need practice material that is very close in content and difficulty level , he must go through ETS official guide and GRE big book.

ETS guide 2nd addition is more than enough for a 320/340 score.A meticulous and careful use of this only one book accompanied with Power prep software (Free available) and GRE Quantam (website) video explanation is more than enough. . secondly, GRE big book is also an official book but it is for old GRE. Although it is outdated yet it contain 5000 question made by official examiners,i mean not bad.

1- GRE official guide (600 pages)can be downloaded here free
https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?...JDAQ4_iMxw4UaE

But i recommend don't use it on ur gadgets (ebook reader, laptop or smart phone etc). This Book is available at Urdu Bazar Karachi or Lahore just PKR 500 RS (Pirated) original will cost 3700/ PKr

2-Power prep soft ware contain 2 full length time tests. This can be downloaded here

http://www.ets.org/gre/2010/14539.html

Use one Test before preparation and save the other and use it after a full preparation. This will tell your prospect score exactly.

3-GRE Quantum must be used with the above mentioned 2 resources. once you become familiar, you can have better idea how help full and complementary this 3rd resource is.you can explore it here for free.

http://www.grequantum.com/greogandpowerprep/

Bur don't forget to open it after going through this 1st and 2nd link

4- GRE Big Book (1100 pages and 27 full length tests)can be downloaded free

https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?...Kvn06e4zmrdYBw

My advice is that you must use the hard copy of this book.As it can be bought just in 200 pkr (pirated) readily available in Urdu Bazar Lahore.
Although it contain some irrelevant (old Gre) question (40%) , yet it contains far better questions than that in Kaplan, Manhattan , Nova ,Barrons and all other unofficial guides.

In short ,searching and using online test material will cost a good chunk of time and in the end you will be frustrated. Barron,Nova, Kaplan, Princeton and Manhattan all are compiled just for making money and using these books can be real time waste. however, Manhattan Book 7 and 8 can be used if someone have difficulty in verbal, vocabulary and analytical writing.
manhattan Book 7 and 8 can be downloaded here. These books are not available easily.original books are expensive and pirated set is not available here in Pakistan(as per my knowledge).
https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?...JxafpbB4Bx40b8

https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?...JxafpbB4Bx40b8

if the link doesn't work as it sometime do you can request by email

one more thing never ever join any academy for GRE preparation as it is harmful for your reasoning abilities. The techniques communicated at Acdemies are antithesis to your verbal and quantitative abilities which are in fact going to be checked in REAL GRE.

Feel free to make Queries written clearly and concisely.my email is in my profile.

GRE big book is of former test pattern. Better is to prefer Manhattan and Princeton.

Default Clearification about GRE Big book

@ Adil

Brother read carefully i mentioned clearly GRE big book contain 40% material that is of no use because of the pattern , difficult level and question types etc.For instance, Anolgy questions are not being administered in recent tests, but Big book contain such questions. Moreover, the number of Quadrant geometry Questions is much lower in the big book while now a days the ratio of questions on quadrant geometry increased manifold.

However,The questions in Big book are those that were used in real GRE test previously administrated to examinees. My point was that all other books contain a plethora of practice questions, but they are far easier or much difficult than the real test or content is of varied nature asked in real GRE.
in a nut shell, GRE big book is a better option for practicing test material if used actively and efficiently not passively and blindly. if someone go word by word it is obviously outdated.

@hoodwink

Sorry but you are wrong.

ETS guide is useless, they are two careful to teach and guide.

Further, Big book is obsolete as GRE is done with analogies and antonyms.

Best books.

Manhattan series
Kaplan 2014 premier
Barron's

And finally Princeton's wordsmart for GRE.

That's it. Maybe hoodwink took GRE 5 years ago, but as far as "modern" world is concerned you are wrong.
