Philosophy KPPMS 2018
AOA
Most of you, KPPMS aspirants, especially those who appeared in KPPMS-2016 interview but could not be allocated, are well aware of the fact that philosophy had been awarded with huge marks. Keeping in view the marking trend of the subject, those who have opted it are requested to share their view point regarding the subject. Should it be opted or not? How much time will it take to prepare? Difficulty level of the subject? |

Scoring trend does not remain the same but changes. I have not opted Philosophy but if you are opting Political Science then I'll recommend you to opt Constitutional Law instead of Philosophy. Philosophy will cover 50% of paper-1 of Political Science but Constitutional Law will cover 60-70% of paper-2 of Political Science. Besides this, Constitutional Law will also help you in Pakistan Affairs, as one question in Pakistan Affairs is usually constitution related.
PS: If your personal interest is in Philosophy and have full grip on it then ignore my suggestion. |

While there may have been certain variations in scoring trends, as you said, there has been considerable evidence that Journalism, Forestry, and Britain History alongside other subjects were awarded good marks as compared to History of India and Pakistan, Islamic History and Geography etc, in the previous competitive examinations(2013,2016) conducted by KPPSC.
I have already opted Political Science and Constitutional Law and your observations regarding these two subjects are spot on. Thanks |

Philosophy is one of the best optionals. By best I mean it is seldom opted, and it is much scoring. Prior to this attempt, I had opted Islamic History and had to pay the price in allocations of PMS 2013 despite my good score in other subjects.
For 2016 PMS i opted PHILOSOPHY just for this purpose, as I had to make an exception, and with a preparation of just 2 months i secured 148 marks... and finally I got allocated in PMS 2016 ALHAMDULLILAH. I would highly suggest and recommend philosophy as optional. |

1) Introduction to Logic by Irving Copi Or 2) Concise Introduction to Logic by Patrick Hurley For part 2, I mostly relied on Internet sources. Online lectures on YouTube can be very helpful in this regard. |

For part 2 you read as much about philosophy as you can. Same technique goes here as well.. tutorial videos on YouTube. You can also download philosophy apps on smart phones. Just to understand the main theme of a particular philosophy. Do go through past papers and you will have an idea about the questions. P.S: According to my knowledge, owing to the drubbing of Psychology and good scoring of Philosophy, this time it has been opted by majority aspirants. Philosophy can be easily covered if you have interest in it.. otherwise it can become really boring. |
