It's the very same as in any other government department.

Its first time ever Police is directly recruiting Assistants bps 16.otherwise presently all the Assistants bps 16 serving in Police have been promoted to this scale after more than 25 years service.some are still senior clerks bps14 with nearly 30 years service.dont know how many steps promotion will these new Assistants get,as there are only 2 steps/designations above this scale.Superintendent in bsp 17 and then registrar in bps 18 and registrar is only 1 in KP Police.the senior most Suptd is appointed as registrar. There is no designation above Registrar post.

1. Junior clerk; 2. Senior clerk; 3. Assistant/Office Assistant (BS 16); 4. Superintendent (BS 17); and, 5. Administrative Officer (AO) (BS 18). AO is the dead-end, no further promotions...... P.S: Majority of the AOs get Parkinson at the about to end of their careers as a gift for been working under the burden of thousands of files not to mention the pressure that the colonial mentality of their bosses exert upon these (ever-remained-) restless souls. For becoming a good ministerial block and for putting a hurdle in the way of Parkinson coming into your way, one needs to be at home in the nuances of different sorts of laws/rules/regulations relevant to the department one is serving in. Respect and my heartiest felicitations to all those who stood out from the crowd of those 175 candidates.

@Qazi1: Brother, will you mind sharing whether the risk and other allowances that's being paid to the uniformed employees of Police Department are permissible to the civilian employees as well OR this department is discriminating between the martial and non-martial.
Sorry for chain posts dear admins.

Ministerial staff went against Police through a writ petition demanding risk and other allowances in the PHC but the petition was dismissed due to lack of jurisdiction as Article-212 of the constitution bars higher judiciary from proceeding in cases that pertains to 'terms & conditions' of service. The petitioners were hinted by the PHC to raise the issue at a proper forum which is 'Service Tribunal. Anyways, as a clerk is always a clerk no matter if you've been recommended through sifarish or merit, since you're doing the same work...... Only power respect power. I am seriously considering not to join after listening to the stories of prevailing discrimination against this toothless group of government servants. As the Pushto saying goes: "Piaz de ve, kho pa niaz de ve". Respect!
