Well, in layman language Biotechnology is to "use bacteria for beneficial purposes". Basically we play with bacteria, bring changes in its genetic make-up through cloning and command it to produce the product of our interest.
Like to make cheese, to transfer drought resistant genes in plants, to make Vaccine against common diseases,to treat industrial waste with harmless bacterias.....etc etc.

Mahallah!biotechnology always sounds me wonderful.....i was very keen to do my masters in this subject but unfortunately, iddint get the chance due to certain reasons....so i did my masters in zoology.
i want to know whether genetic engineering is included in biotechnology or it is totally a different field ???

Genetic Engineering is a technique involved in Biotechnology.
u can say GE is part of BT.
Zoology is also an interesting subject.....u can opt Biotechnology after ur masters in Zoology,u can apply for M.Phil in Biotech.
Or better find an institute whr u can perform ur research work.....like any PAEC institute in Islamabad. Go for a research project involving GE techniques, like Cloning, Protein extraction, Gel-Electrophoresis,SDS-PAGE etc.
Anything else dear????
