Let's take an example of CSS exam for a moment. Every year 15,000 to 20,000 candidates apply for the exam, and no. of candidates are increasing with every passing year. Out of, let's assume 20,000, only around 400 candidates pass the written exam, and out of 400, only around 250 (more or less) are able to get allocated. So the percentage is below 3, who get allocated, and same is the case with the general seats, advertised by Federal & Provincial Public Service Commission. Long story short, the percentage of passed candidates is very very low whether it be a competitive exam or a test for a general seat.

And it does not make any difference as well for those who run after excellence rather than calculation of the probability/percentage of the passing candidates.

but first, to investigate question, what is the purpose of education?

to what extent education is related with earning livelihood?

government is bound by any moral/legal obligation to provide jobs to educated people?


we get nothing from good education except job?

does unemployed,uneducated people die of starvation or live without dignity and self respect?

shall we leave hope for better future, in case we fail in css,a single field out of myriads of occupations?

in my opinion,there is no relationship between education and earning livelihood.education is related with morality ,it is related with tolerance,it teach us to be patient while standing in a line,for bill payment.

@qublai Khan: I think getting education has nothing to do with earning more, because I've seen people who have no formal education, earning more than an educated one, so the proposition proves to be wrong which I used to hear in my childhood that in order earn money you need to study otherwise you would end up in a motorcycle mechanic shop. So let's be clear that education isn't just related to earning livelihood, its purpose is something else. Education is required to groom ourselves intellectually so that we could be a better person in a society, we could know the values, we could know what is wrong and what is right, and if something is wrong how we can fix it, we could bring change in our society or we could improve our successor generation by educating them or passing our knowledge to them that we have acquired over the period of time. So we just don't need to assess education in terms of how much money we are going to make in future out of our education we have.

Govt. should think of providing more opportunities to educated people to reduce brain drain, and make the selection process transparent so that people get selected on merit. And one doesn't need to lose hope by just looking at how difficult the competition is. In fact one should try as hard as possible and leave rest to Allah, because without His consent nothing can be happened. And CSS exam is not a last battle of your life, there may be something better planned by Allah for you ahead which you can't visualize now. So I recommend everyone to put in effort as much as they can and leave rest to Allah.
