Army or CSS help needed
I need your help. I am from army background and wanted to opt for army but
my maternal grandfather DIG retd keeps on insisting to prepare for CSS. As according to him it is the main or master commission. So I am really confused plz tell me the powers, facilities, promotion and pay of csps. Is it really worth all the hard work. Thanks in advance |

You would hardly need a month preparation to try out your luck in army and in your case you may not even need that because you belong to an army family but in contrast to civil service, you will have to work quite hard to get good position in the exam if you really want to be allocated in the top occupational groups of civil service, that is, PAS/PSP/FS. So clearly the journey of CSS is quite longer as compared to army, but again choice is yours that what interests you more. I would personally suggest you to go & try your luck for army first and then think about the civil service later. If I was you then I'd place army to my first priority and then everything else next to it because what I think in terms of power is that army officers are more powerful than their counterparts in air force/navy or civil service. I have been a little biased here because I have a lot of affection for the army and there's a reason for that as my father, maternal grandfather and uncles have served in air force and army. You may have been familiarized with the fact that there's 10% quota of armed forces' officers in civil service and they are exempted from written test and they're allocated to the top cadres(PAS, PSP, FS) of civil service, which will leave you with a chance to opt civil service being in army later.

The quota and criteria of an exemption from the written test were set during the Gen. Zia regime followed by amending the civil services laws, and things haven't changed since then.
