Post A recap of history

Can Pakistan do without an Independent election commission if it is to have a functioning democracy?
During Zia era there was nothing independent in this country and that is the reason for all this mess. What about today? Are we still living in same era??

yes, no doubt we are living in the same era, even worst than that. Free election commission is not in the favour of our leadership and all the political parties, but it is in the interest of the whole nation and for a democratic county. But we have so-called independent judiciary and so is the case of election commission, so it is a food for thought that where we are going. enjoying holiday on death of a political figure is not democracy......Is this kind of democracy is a revenge?

we are unable to define democracy and considering aristocracy as democracy, this is main problem. we have to define democracy properly.
the problem with politics of pakistan is that we are facing military democracy and civilian dictatorship since inception.
all our military dictators tried to bring democracy and use it for their own purposes.
but when we look at our political leaders they have fears from democracy and avoid local bodies elections or basic democracies.
it is true that democracy is better revenge but we need to define democracy properly
