Freedom of speech is the pinnacle of American democracy, no other state offers as much freedom of expression to its citizens as America does and this right of citizens is protected by 1st amendment to US constitution. However time to time US courts give verdicts that define exceptions to free speech; these include verdicts under categories of incitement, false statements of facts, obscenity, child pornography, fighting words and offensive speech, threats, speech owned by others and commercial speech (such as false advertisement) etc. 1st amendment also officially prohibits establishment of any religion and sets forth free practice of religion, therefore ridiculing religious figures and religions is commonplace in American society. However we Muslims are particularly sensitive about our religion, our holy books and our religious figures, specially about Holy Prophet (SAW) and Holy Quran. We take any mocking or joking or ridiculing on religion very seriously, consider it very offensive and respond ferociously in case we find out something bad has been uttered about Islam. Because of our this attitude, believe it or not, Islam enjoys a special status in America and every major mainstream media person, filmmaker or politician is very careful in expressing views about Islam whereas they readily attack and ridicule Christianity and other religions all the time. This embitters extreme followers of other religions, who then do these things like burning Quran, making obscene hate-Islam type of movie etc. Now here is where Muslims make mistake, Muslims outside America are flared up by extremists to start believing this is some sort of Zionist conspiracy against Islam, so they respond with too much violence as you can see. Its time for us to realize that the world has become a well connected global village now, anything done by any madman quickly comes to view of millions, so we should increase our knowledge of different societies and cultures, not always remain muddled in conspiracy rhetoric. If we make 1.4 billion of the world there are 5.6 billion others who could be of any type. If we don't show our civilized side to the world and continue to display barbarism, it will hurt no one but the ideology of Islam and even neutral people will start seeing Islam as religion of violence that teaches its followers to be violent to others. We need to protest and display our agony in a more cultured and civilized way than resorting to violent uproars.

I said he "basically" hates radical Muslims. Of course he has a general dislike for Islam, that much is clear, but reading the article, it seems to me that much of the hate is directed towards radical Islam. Also, I'd be prepared to bet my life that much of his anti-Muslim propaganda revolves around warning people that Muslims are going to destroy the US, or that they are trying to impose the Shariah in the US. It may sound stupid, but some Americans are genuinely afraid that Shariah will be imposed in the US. And the violence displayed by Muslims after this video would have reinforced his belief that Islam is a religion of violence and hate. Some people are genuinely afraid that radical Islam is gaining ground and this fear and frustration (frusturation at their perceived inability to do anything about it) makes them act like this Klein.

I take it moderate Muslims are unlikely to be part of sleeper cells. As I said above, the man is probably paranoid and convinced that Islam threatens everything he holds dear.
