yes dear you have to use them in your own sentences .
in order to improve your vocab you must use it regularly while writing down anything ,

Go through GRE high frequency wordlist (3500) and jot few words down daily with their meanings at one page and sentences in other.

Keep a daily diary, write your daily events in your simple words (to improve sentence structure and grammar) and using few hard words (to remember them few at once). It will make things interesting and improve your expressing ability and let you examine yourself.

Then go through SAT English section : 'How to write an essay' to get a step further.

I think the best way is to read novels, starting from simpler ones, of foreign authors.

Prayers

The more you speak, write, and read English, the better shall be your command of the language. Converse with your friends, partake in fiery discussions on, say, Facebook all with English as a sole means of communication.

Make sure you make wordsmyth(dot)net your second home, if you desire truly to enhance your English skills. The uniqueness of this website I introduce you to is that it uses plain, simple English for word meanings. Search meanings of different words and then go through the synonyms, antonyms et cetera. Spend time as much as possible on the website.

Wordsmyth is the place what helped me improve my own English and with Holy Prophet's (much peace and abundant blessings of King Allah be upon him) grace and support, it has. I remember how I used to be picked on for making errors in English, but such obstacles are not to be succumbed to almost always urged the voice within, only to be taken to self advantage by coming up better each time. I wish you good luck in your struggle with the language.

Remember the best way out is always through. Do not lose hope.

Use the words you memorize for a few days regularly and then instinctively they will pop up inside your head forever when you need them. Your mind itself is the perfect reservoir of your vocabulary, but must you try to use the words "regularly" that you put into your head.
