Broken Pieces I have tried to collect the broken pieces and make it a Kaleidoscope. I am a poor sticker; distortions and manipulations won't lend colour to the dusty, dirty pieces; they fall apart soon, braving all my ill-efforts, my vain hopes; they don't listen to me, though I too don't let them go... I treasure them, the worthless pieces, striving vainly, and myself an air of sanity....

Goya ..... "Nagri nagri phira musafir, ghar ka rasta bhool gya" A very short but expressive poem saying so much in a very small space. Quote:
Ye living lamps, by whose dear light
The nightingale does sit so late, And studying all the summer night, Her matchless songs does meditate; Ye county comets, that portend No war nor prince’s funeral, Shining unto no higher end Than to presage the grass’s fall; Ye glow-worms, whose officious flame To wand’ring mowers shows the way, That in the night have lost their aim, And after foolish fires do stray; Your courteous lights in vain you waste, Since Juliana here is come, For she my mind hath so displac’d That I shall never find my home.

Meetings From London to Dubai to the National Assembly, we hold meetings, and talk, discuss and analyse. Excellent rhetoric, lavish phrases, rich costumes, we paint perhaps, the most exquisite pictures in the world. Portray scenes and situations, dismal, hopeless and alarming. Exhibit our grave concern for the national integrity, reinstatement of judges, poverty, energy crisis.... We twist our faces, and for once shed our paralytic indifference, get agitated and excited, rail and bewail... Blame everybody except ourselves, and then pounce upon the long-awaited lavish tea, snacks, sweets and.... The meeting over--- we shrug our shoulders, shake off the unbearable burden; twist the corners of our lips and bear the insinuating smile. We anticipate: nothing can be altered. But why? ( The answers are many, but involve thought-process and action--- and both are beyond us) But why? WELL, WE SHALL HOLD ANOTHER MEETING.

Fused Bulb Since you left me lastin the lonely lane, against the dark and drooping sky, I have been a fused bulb.... Desperate for light, I have groped within, but found naught. To revive it back to life, I have softly stirred it; I have violently shaken it; but to no avail. The disjoined wires, repugnant at my seeming meanness, moving in commotion, coaxed me to buy a new one. You know, I am of the old order ! Maybe, I succeed. But I know, lasting it will never be. Any moment the connection would be cut plunging me deep into the abysses of darkness.... .

It is a Difficult Heart
" Let me not peep into the caves of my mind and disturb the placid calm of the world"--- the decision has worked well. The roar you sometimes hear is nothing but habitual protest of the aging consciousness, buried under various layers of sophisticated commitments. Oh, it is harmless. But I am still afraid of my leaky, unprofessional heart, ( even the ECG couldn't diagnose the instability) cares and craves--- oh, my God ! it is a difficult heart. The old, powerful, foolish notions, it still pumps them into the stream, and everyday there is a possibility of a volcanic eruption, and then I will be doomed: I am really fed up with this bloody heart....

Loneliness, friend to the friendless...
Crouching in the dark, lonely corners, Gazing at the clinking fans, Or peeling plaster, Peeping through the shabby holes of time, I force on her my nostalgic titbits, My promising childhood and youthful follies, A long list of my companions: Lost to the gust winds Sweeping away every sane straw, my maddening passions and dreams, starry achievements and ambitions, moony ideals and painful promises, vain hopes and foolish illusions, the flowering, the fruition, the frustration… the aches, the agony, the anguish… On my long walks too, I show her the trees I love, The flowers that fascinate me, The clouds, the stars, the moon that move with me. She listens intently, revels my reveries; at times encourages me, consoles me, always her winsome, soothing smile…. Everybody had passed by… When I found none Between me and the black horizon, In utter desperation, I invited ‘her’ one day, And she has stayed faithful….

Hey dude !!!
I always like your eclectic collection of psyche inspiring poetries. They directly touches the beats of heart (taking the breath off). so please keep sharing.... In the grey dawn I lie within my bed
Still as a frozen lake that pats no more With murmurous delight the o'erhanging shore, Yet grim thoughts heave obscurely in my head; For curtains I have earthen walls, and lead Is colder than the woollen garb I wore-- But oh! that heart of mine is still as sore As when I did not know that I was dead. I knew her (O my Life!) and she was fair, And gave her beauty to the hills and sea, The wonder of her voice to leaf and wave. The brown earth lies between us; does she care That since she cast the first dull clod on me My lonely heart is aching in the grave?

The Mousetrap....
He watched with interest the mouse in the mousetrap. It was struggling hard: moving violently, thrusting at the sides, and gnawing at the wires with its sharp, tiny teeth. Attempting the impossible: to cut the wires and get out. He admired but laughed. It was a raw mouse, perhaps. The struggle inside the trap lasted quite a while, but it died out gradually.... It gave in to the inevitable; and He felt bad. As he opened the trap, it didn't jump to its freedom, as he had expected; rather, it sat in the corner of the trap, perhaps loving it better than the freedom, or the possibility of another struggle, safe and secure in the niche; He had to force it out, the poor creature, the tamed mouse.
