Tu is qadar mujhe apne qareeb lagta hai
Tujhe alag se jo sochuun, ajeeb lagta hai

Jisay na husn se matlab na ishq se sarokaar
Vo shaksh mujh ko bahut bad-nasiib lagta hai

Hudood-e-zaat se baahar nikal ke dekh zara
Na ko’ii Ghair, na ko’ii raqeeb lagta hai

Ye dosti, ye maraasim, ye chahatein ye khuluus
Kabhii kabhii ye sab kuch ajeeb lagta hai

Ufaq pe duur chamaktaa huvaa ko’ii taara
Mujhe charaagh-e-dayaar-e-habeeb lagta hai

Na jaane kab ko’ii tuufaan aaye ga yaaron
Buland mauj se saahil qareeb lagta hai
