tumhiin the badale hue yaa merii nigaahen thiin
tumhaarii nazaron se lagataa thaa jaise merii bajaaye
tumhaare ghar men koi aur shaKhs aayaa hai
tumhaare ohade kii dene tumhen mubaarak.

so tum ne meraa svaagat usii tarah se kiyaa
jo afasaraan-e-hukuumat ke aitaqaad men hai
takallufan mere nazadiik aa ke baiTh gaye
phir ehatamaam se mausam kaa zikr chheD diyaa

kuchh us ke baad siyaasat kii baat bhii nikalii
adab par bhii koi do chaar tabasare faramaaye
magar na tum ne hameshaa kii tarah ye puuchhaa
kyaa vaqt kaisaa guzarataa hai teraa jaan-e-hayaat

pahaaD din kii aziiyat men kitanii shiddat hai
ujaaD raat kii tanhaai kyaa qayaamat hai
shabon ki sust ravii kaa tujhe bhii shikavaa hai
Gam-e-firaaq ke qisse nishaat-e-vasl kaa zikr
ravaayatan hii sahii koi baat to karte.
