shab-e-firaq ye ehsaas kis bala ka hai
kay dil chiragh hai aur samn'a hawa ka hai

sabhi hain noha balb kon kis ka dukh bantay
yaha to jo bhi hai ek marsia wafa ka hai

isay to khair say behud shooq-e-bakhia giri
magar sawal mery zakhm ki an'a ka hai

dar-e-qabool ko zid hai udhar kay bund rahay
magar yaha bhi kisay hosla dua ka hai

tabeeb-e-dil hai, magar hal-e-dil say begana
ajab haal mery dard ashn'a ka hai

chirag-e-jaan hai salamat to khariet jano
kay shab safar ki hai aur dasht karbala ka hai
