Ye dil ye paagal dil mera, kyun bujh gaya, Aawaragi
Iss dasht mein ik shehar tha wo kya hua, Aawaragi ..

Kal shab mujhay be-shakal si aawaz ne chaunka diya
Main ne kaha tuu kon hai, Uss ne kaha Aawaragi ..

Ik tuu k sadiyon se meray hamraah bhi, hamraaz bhi
Ik main k teray naam sa na-aashna, Aawaragi ..

Ye dard ki tanhaiiyan ye dasht ka weeraan safar
Hum log to uktaa gaye, Apni suna Aawaragi .. ?

Logo bhala uss shehar mein kaisay jiyen ge hum
Jahan ho jurm tanhaa sochna, lekin sazaa Awaargi ..

Ik ajnabi jhonkay ne jab poocha meray gham ka sabab
Sehra ki tapti rait per main ne likha Aawaragi ..

Lay ab to dasht e shab ki saari wussatain sonay lagin
Ab jaagna hoga hamain kab tak bataa, Aawaragi .. ?

Kal raat tanha chaand ko dekha tha main ne khawaab mein
Mohsin mujhay raas aayegi shaayed sadaa, Aawaragi .. !!
