Search for scholarly literature: research papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.

Instead of google.com, switch your academic searches to http://scholar.google.com. Here you can get state of the art of almost any field conveniently, saving a lot of time and effort, wasted in browsing thorugh junk material. The articles are arranged by date of publishing.

Another advice is to read the abstract of research papers and articles first,to confirm the relevancy, before going through the whole.
