Recently I came across a book titled "Mastering Competitions" which has been authored by Sayyed Abdul Waheed Shah (DMG, 35th CTP) and published by New College Publications. From the CSS papers of 1971-2010; portions of precis, comprehension, idioms and pairs of words have been solved in it with an impeccable command over language. As this book has, primarily, been designed to cater for the needs of the candidates appearing in AJK Public Service examinations, so it also contains some 50 paragraphs for translation from English to Urdu alongwith brief but comprehensive sections dealing with Pakistan and Kashmir Affairs and Everyday Science. Utmost care has been taken by the author for not including irrelevant material just for the sake of increasing the volume of the book. Being a Lecturer in English, I strongly recommend it for the preparation of the paper of English (Precis and Composition) of every competitive examination including CSS.
