What happens if a selected candidate doesn't want to join?

I want to ask what happens if a selected candidate for IB doesn't want to join.. whether the job is offered to the next candidate on the merit list or is it re-advertised? any senior member comment plz...!!

but Can u tell the whole procedure? i mean whether the next candidate will be contacted by IB or by the FPSC..? and how much time is taken to notify the next candidate after a candidate has declined?

Always by the recruiting organization i.e. FPSC.

There may not be any specific time for any post but usually it is 3-5 months. For example, for a post of A.D in FIA, the next candidate -as per merit- was probably called after 4 months.
