Exclamation Waiting/reserve list

Seniors please guide me in the following case.

Four candidates were interviewed for three posts out of which three were recommended. One of the three recommended candidates did not join the service. Will the fourth candidate be recommended in this case or the post will remain vacant?

It is an interesting query. I am also eager to know the answer from seniors.

Default

There are two types of selection being done under fpsc. One is principal selection and the second is alternate selection. Regarding the case mentioned above in case of a failure to report for duty by a principal selectee the one next on merit list (alternate selectee) would be recommended for appointment subject to his qualifying the intrview. This is only in fpsc. There is no such mechanism in provincial commissions.
