The probability of 1 head and 1 tail when a coin is tossed twice is 1/3. 3 possible outcomes. 2 head or 2 tail or 1 head or 1 tail

Whenever coin is tossed it is either head or a tail,, that makes 50 - 50 chances for both. This probability remains the same regardless of how many times you try.

answer = 1/2

1st attempt: Head or Tails
2nd attempt: Head or Tails

so, I get Head & Tails or Head & Head or Tails & Head or Tails &Tails

answer = 2/4 (probability of getting Head & Tails) but 2/4 is also same as 1/2

Wink probability

Probability of getting a head or tail, if a coin is tossed once 1/2 but in the question coin was tossed twice and the term head and tail was used so probability p(HT)- 1/2*1/2 which is 1/4. In my opinion this is the proper solution.

There was a big "ONCE" in the question asked,tossed twice but they asked the probability of getting a head and a tail once,which is 1/2..

Assuming that the coin is unbiased, and that landing on head and tail are exhaustive events.

So, P(first toss resulting in head) = 1/2
and P(second toss resulting in a tail)= 1/2 .

Since they are independent events, required probability (their product) is 1/4.

Another way to see it as:
Possible outcomes: HH, HT, TH and TT, each with equal probability. Hence, 1/4.

There is no other method to solve this question...
