Hello all,

Can anyone tell me what is the exact amount of salary which a Captain gets serving in army ?
Is it same for all posting or differs from region/cantonment/posted at war place ?
What kind of accomodation he gets ? free/half payed ? Is it big and good enough to accomdate family?
What about the social services benefits, medical, education, transport, servants?
How long it takes to get promoted to Major.

captain gets a salary of about more than sixty thousands. sometime it is more than this in the case of giving services at risky areas like border, siachin and waziristan etc due to some extra allowances. he enjoys all facilities like family residential,medical, APS&CS and so many others, but it depends upon the situation. as sometimes situation does not permit so.
captain is promoted to the rank of major after total 10 years service including 5 years service as a captain subject to good service track record.

seriously a captain gets 60 thousand per month. are u sure?

Salary of a captain varies a lot from posting to posting as well on the years of service as you get annual increment.

However on a normal family station, for a fresh captain with almost one year service in Army the take away is around 35-40k, depends on how much has be fixed for his DSOP funds.

If the Captain is unmarried, his normal mess bill is around 5-7k per month, which he has to pay from his pocket. However, he will get a free room in the BOQ's (Bachelor Officers Quarters).

If he is married, his salary would be almost 5k higher than that of a bachelor of his rank. And he is then entitled to get a free govt house inside cantt.(Depending on availability and number of demands in the queue in the station). If Houses are not available usually MOQ's are there to place the families.

The captain (All officers of Forces) get an NCB also known as Batman, a helper, who is a civilian hired, paid for by the Government of Pakistan!

Other defence related perks are also there like memeberships in certain clubs e.g a captain can get membership of DESOM services club membership in Lahore.

The Sixty thousand salary, about which a person has mentioned is applicable when the captain is in a hard area e.g Siachen or may be Waziristan etc, in which case the Basic Pay increases until he is staying there. On return to a peace station, he will start getting the same salary as other captains.

If its only the money that you seek, then Pakistan Army is not a very good place.

As for Captain i tried to give answer according to one year service of a captain. The same salary of a captain go up with each passing year with annual increment, which in turn affects the whole salary.

A major will naturally have high pay starting from the range above 55-60K+ range as he is having more than a decade of service in army which means he already has atleast ten or so increments since then. Again here in this rank as well station to station difference is there. Also the same cutting from salary i-e DSOP fund etc value determine how much take-away salary is. Because there are cases where officers opt for like 8-10k cutting from their salary each month which is saved to their dsop fund, that can be used later or at retirement. Other cuttings like that for plot/house at retirement etc are also subtracted from the salary!

Perks are usually normal, a free house, a batman, free medical for family etc. However, in some special cases the perks vary, where a major can get a car for official use given that his appointment falls in such a category, generally too for normal routine work a major can easily get a car, given that he has some official duty on record. But in certain cases a major can have a car under his sole authority.

However, you may find senior Majors in army who would have a very high salary because they have no chance of further promotion and they keep getting increments every year while staying in same rank.

All depends on postings one can be living in a small apartment being a captain and may be living in a big bungalow of many kanals.
Medical facilities are free for himself, his parents, wife and children.
Medical facilities are very excellent.
