FPSC will come up with the argument (excuse?) that 50 marks was the passing criteria. People barely get 40 marks in CSS, let alone 50.

But this is not CSS. I am pretty confident that I would have gotten more than 50 in this test had the paper-checkers any sense of rationality. There might have been some people in the test who had already passed CSS essay but couldn't clear this one. That's absurd. Btw, have you cleared?

It is not CSS but the institution and probably the examiners are same.
I was confident but I have been adjudged to be in the list of 'also-rans' like many others.

Whatever the case maybe, but the fact that only 21 candidates qualified for 30 seats is a manifestation of substandard English writing and grammar skills. It's a shame that these institutes don't recognize and acknowledge the potential of youth and subsequently complain of brain-drain. I say its their loss as I am sure that they have failed many bright and able candidates who might have changed the institution for good.

Passing marks for subjective test were 50. Only 21 candidates are able to pass the exam. Total candidates passed are 27. 21 are from general category and 6 candidates passed against languages category.

FPSC upholds merit, no doubt. Their checking criteria seems beyond comprehension.

This is the story in every other govt. department. Hundreds of vacancies remain vacant, people remain unemployed and our leaders wonder why our educated youth gets played into the hands of banned outfits.
