Pardon as I'm posting on behalf of the two reverend Ladies. As the time is short and you need suggestion, I thought it better to reply you.
Here is the strategy along with key areas to be covered essentially. 1. History of English Literature: This is the most important and crucial part of the test and comprises of the 60% MCQs at least. As the time is short, consult B.R. Mullick's History of English Literature. Read from the beginning to the 20th century literature. Keep in mind the Ages, Writers in that age, Trends in that age, Important Writers's birth and death dates and their works or the works that are known or important. Obviously, you are Masters in this subject and can easily guess who are worth to be considered more than the others. For Example, drama portion is not completed without Marlowe, Shakespeare, Jonson, G.B Shaw etc. Same is the case for Novelists and Poets. But, the above-mentioned is enough at present. 2. Linguistics: For this portion, preliminary knowledge is almost okay. Consult Famous Publishers' book of Linguistics. Key areas are: Semantics, Discourse, Morphology, Phonetics and Phonology and so on. 3. Vocabulary and Grammar: Revise prepositions, sentence structure, and some words from GRE/GAT book English vocabulary portion. Synonyms and Antonyms. For any other question, you may ask please.

The prudent strategy would be to first go through History of English Literature by B.R. Mullik. Thats not some bulky book. One can go through that in a couple of days. After that the book by Emporium Publishers for English Lecturer is very instrumental for a better preparation of this test. If that is not available and the book by Mullik has been given a bird eye view, the book by Ilmi by Mr. Kharal consisting of hardly 120 pages or so would be sufficient for a better preparation. Baaki kuch common sense aur kuch previous knowledge aur dher saari luck.
