good suggestion
i also request respected frorum members to check the accuracy of the facts in the following text: the fate of 370 brilliant youngsters of the land of pure at stake Your kind attention is invited towards the fate of 370 brilliant youngsters who qualified the written exam of sindh public service comission(SPSC) and have apperaed in the viva-voce but their result is not being announced despite passing of 5 moths. The SPSC announced combined competitve exam 4 years ago in jan 2008 and the exam was to be held in may 2008 as per the advertisement. however the exam could not be held in May 2008 for unknown reasons. Leter on in september 2008 the exam was reannounced and finally in March 2009 the exam was conducted. the result of the written exam was declared after one year in April 2010 in which 370 candidates weer declared successfull. Interviwes/vivas were started on 14 June 2010 and lasted till 28 August 2010. About five months have passed but the SPSC is not declaring the result for reasons best known to the quarters concerned. It is pertinined to mention here that through this exam candidates are recruited to the most important service groups in the provincial administration. The prolonged and unjustified delay in the result is raising doubts in the minds of the candidates on one hand and creating sense of lack respect for merit and good governance on the other hand. I request all concerned authorities including the Honorable Chief Justice os Sindh High Court to take action of the matter on humanitarian as well as administrive ground and direct the SPSC to declare the final result immediatley. |

Today I visited SPSC Head Office and went deep inside all the way to the Examination Wing. I was amazed to see many visitors wandering around and entry into the office seemed quite easy. I inquired the matter regarding delay from officials in examination department and they clarified that those candidates who missed the exam due to revised time time during examination have won the case in Supreme court after losing the same petition in High court. The paper of Civil Law for those candidates is scheduled on 22-01-2010 and result will be declared than after the marking process.
Now this claim promulgated by many of us that exam of such kind has already been taken place. This claim was denied by the clerk in SPSC exam department. Those who have information about this claim please come forward and let the forum know about the reality. Why SPSC should be very keen to hold it again?? |

following letter by the secretary spsc appeared in DAWN in jan 2010
"THIS is with reference to the letter by Waseem Nabi Soomro (Jan 21) criticising the selection process of the Sindh Public Service Commission. One of the points is that the result of written portion of combined competitive examination, 2008, has not been declared despite a lapse of eight months. It may be clarified that such an examination has not been held in Sindh since 2003. Besides, 15 years’ relaxation in upper age limit by the government of Sindh also enabled an unprecedented number of more than 8,600 candidates to appear in the competitive examination in 2008. Some candidates who had missed their optional subjects filed petitions in the Sindh High Court requesting holding of examinations in the leftout papers. The petitions are now pending in the Supreme Court. Therefore, it is not possible to declare the result of the combined competitive examination till their disposal. The SPSC has simultaneously processed tests for lecturers and other posts which run in thousands. It goes to the credit of the commission that it held the examination for the posts of mukhtiarkar to be conducted on Feb 24, 2010, which ironically could not be held previously despite publication of advertisements in various newspapers quite a number of times. However, the posts of excise inspector were not assigned to the commission. The question of holding their tests does not arise. It has wrongly been mentioned that the SPSC is minting money on advertisements because examination and interview fees collected from candidates are deposited directly into the account of the Sindh government and the commission has nothing to do with the fees so collected. The commission has, within 19 months, recruited candidates for 2,222 posts in departments of health, education and literacy, works and services, livestock and fisheries, forest and wildlife, information and archives, environment and alternative energy, besides holding departmental examinations, as well as filling some posts of the SPSC itself. SYED AIJAZ HUSSAIN JAFRI Secretary, Sindh Public Service Commission Hyderabad http://news.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect...on-process-810 from this letter it seems that the second time examination was not conducted. however the question arises here is that if the petiitions were in supreme court and as the secretary said they could not declare result until disposal of those petition then how the writtten exam result was declared in April 2010? |

original letter was following
I WANT to draw the attention of the federal government to the selection process of Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) authorities. The SPSC advertised different posts in the category of Combined Competitive Examinations in March 2008. It was again advertised, with certain additions, in October 2008, superseding the previous advertisement. The examination was conducted in April 2009 with many blunders as the timetable was altered in the middle of the examination. Many candidates suffered because of clash of papers, as a consequence of which they had to appear for their examination on another date. The result, as it appears on the official website of the SPSC, is still awaited, after a lapse of eight months. This is creating greater problems and countless doubts in the minds of thousands of candidates of Sindh. I have to say with deep regret that the SPSC is not looked upon as a responsible body in the eyes of many and its way of handling things is further confirming those doubts. In the past, too, many posts were advertised, including those of Excise Inspectors and Mukhtiarkars. In the latter case, even a call for appearing at the examination was given but no examination was conducted. Thus millions of rupees were collected. What happened to these posts, no one knows. I request the auditor-general to look into the matter of collection of money against heads of various advertisements as no examinations have been conducted but only application forms have been received and fees collected. It is no exaggeration to say that the SPSC is just minting money by fleecing the poor and unemployed through ‘bogus’ advertisements. The Sindh government can also be made a party to the exploitation of our graduates because when the government of Sindh asks the SPSC for recruitment of officers, it never sets a timeframe for selection and ‘delivery’ of officers! A thorough investigation into the matter should be carried out so as to make the SPSC a viable and trustworthy organisation. Your paper should also publish an investigative report in this regard, taking into account the last five years of its performance. WASEEM NABI SOOMRO Karachi http://news.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect...on-process-110 |
