If you want to serve your country are your circumstance are such that you don't anyone but yourself to support in the near future. Go for CSS it provides you with the opportunity of a life time. Plus its age restricted only people under 28 can actually take the exam.

CFA isn't as tough as people think it is. Many a people assume that CFA brings in a lot of cash I honestly disagree. I am my self a CFA level 2 candidate. Plus I aspire on doing an MBA too. But the thing is CFA and MBA are not age restricted. I can do them when ever I want to. You can take these exams even when you are a CSS officer. So no worries here.

Go for CSS if this don't work out you will always have CSS. win win for all.

Regards.

CFA i will think ova it

dear it depends upon ur interest and time u have like am doing CFA and i have done ACCA, CAT n bala bala....the only thing that matters is scope...css definitely have scope but in Pakistan currently CFA don't have...so i would suggest go for MBA plus CSS not for cfa...it is expensive it is time consuming as u mentioned u are already 24 so minimum 3 years for cfa plus 2 years ov experience mean alot...all else up to
best ov luck

CFA n CSS r 2 completely different streams. If you r sharp at finance and investment stuff go for CFA or at least level I. If you clear level I in first attempt and you like the curriculum complete it if not then MBA. MBA might get you a job early but less rewarding compared to CFA. Mind you that there r handful of CFAs in pak and very selective jobs too. N trust me CFA is way more difficult than you can imagine.
One more thing. If you clear CSS top notch you r guaranteed a public servant job but there is no guarantee when it it comes to CFA because of the fact which I told you before that is "only few selective jobs in market for CFAs"
Good luck

nice discussion..i myself opted CFA after my Msc economics passed level 1 in 1st attempt..failed in level 2..then was forced to go for CSS..its my 1st and last chance in 2013..still i prefer CFA..yes its tough, its costly and most importantly its time consuming as one can only appear once in a year for level 2 and 3 (june attempt).
i will surely resume my CFA level 2..
scope of CFA was never ever in pakistan esp. after 2008 as we have too small investment market here .
no need of 3 y internship after level 3, its working experience requirement of at least 3 y to acquire charter from CFA INST.
its interesting Comparison css over cfa was started here..i am the one who did n doing both in midst of Cfa...
