Pakistan Origin Card
A.o.A Forum!
I am a P.O.C. holder and am residing in Pakistan permanently. My P.O.C. number is used in place of C.N.I.C. number in Banks and Universities with no problems. My question is: Am I eligible for CSS Examinations? I am a citizen of Pakistan, but hold a P.O.C. instead of C.N.I.C. There is no mention of P.O.C. in the terms and conditions. Thankyou! |

WS,
Under Pak law a POC does not mean you are a citizen (you may be of course), and that is why it's differentiated from an CNIC. FPSC, like most Pakistani govt institutions aren't very understanding. Now it may be that they might accept your POC, but it could well be that they will refuse to recognize you as a citizen. My advise, apply for a CNIC immediately, and a passport for good measure. There's plenty of time before you need to apply. You are a citizen (and can get a CNIC/Passport) if: 1. Either of your parents hold (or held) Pakistani citizenship. or 2. If you were born in Pak.

I am a bit confused about this.
I am a citizen if either of my parents hold/held Pakistani citizenship. I got a POC because I proved to NADRA that my parents, grandparents and many other relatives hold Pakistani citizenship. But as a POC holder I am not recognized as a citizen? Is this not contradictory? |

Haha, this whole country is contradictory.
Go to your nearest NADRA office, they'll be able to tell you exactly what to do. Pretty sure you'll be able to get a NIC easy.
