Dear just in case if you don't know. to be eligible for CSS you need to have a Bachelors degree! be it MBBS or some other degree. after that you can go for CSS. Now i'll suggest you to complete your studies first and then come for CSS, moreover i would recommend you to get a professional degree to be on the safe side, cause no one knows if he or she will get allocated even after clearing the exam... I hope i helped...

Regards,
Madiha

@Asna: i think Madu cleared your confusion. that is what i tried to convey you. Thank You Madu.

Mostly CSPs say its 99% game of luck. but remaining 1% is cornerstone. Actually its a combination of both luck and hardworking in a right way with proper clarity of mind and consistency.

Basic requirement are:

21 year of age
BA/Bsc/B.com/Bcs...
with at-least 2nd division.

Do clear my 'confusion' as an elder bro
after doing MBBS u ll hv complted 17 years education thats equivalent to masters as HEC rate 17 years education to masters....and yeah u can take english papers after 2 years and u ll get a bachlor degree as i did....but us ka faida nhi hoga apko.....uski waja ye hy k ap 2 saal baad english ka paper de bhi do tu u cant manage studying mbbs prof and prep for css.......aur apki age bhi kam hogi....as i was just 20 years old when i get bachlors degree so wasnt eligible for css...aur phr dono ko at a time manage bhi nhi kia ja skta
so my opinion and advice for u is
ap filhal concentrate kro mbbs pe....get a professional degree and is doran jab kabhi free time ho....try to improve ur english skills....
one u ll get an mbbs degree...then start prep for css and appear in it....KHUDA na khawsta apka css clear nhi hota tu bhi u are on a very safe hand as u hv a professional degree that i shud day one of the best degree so u can serve humanity and save lives by serving in medical field.......

Because CSS is not a dead-certain thing. You can never, ever be 100% sure, however genius you may be,that you shall clear CSS.Many big guns fail in this examination. Its a competitive examination, and in such an examination you are always on the edge.So its better that before going for any such examination, you have a professional/other degree in your bag,so that in case if you can't cut it in CSS,you have a profession to fall back on.
Like Dr Adnan, you will find a number of doctors in Civil services. Its better to cover your bases before taking this risk.

In my case, lack of aptitude.Imagine thinking of doing something else when you belong to a family where every second person is a doctor.

To,
My Respected Doctor-turned-Civil Servant Elders
Am I right in assuming that you spent 5 years studying medical just to make yourself secure? To keep another path open if one got blocked? Is CSS such a game of luck that a candidate with the abilities of a topper and capacity of extreme hard work finds himself failed in the exam? How can you be insecure if you possess all the required abilities?
Yes, I get your point. There's no guarantee of getting allocated even if you clear the exam. Right. Yet consider my case, Sir. I regard css as my ultimate goal. This is the field I would like to be in, in my future life. This is the job I think that would bring the best out of me and enable me to benefit people more and make myself content. And I want to start working for my ambition and achieve it as early as possible. I must also add that every individual has a different degree of ability. A policy applicable on one might not be applied on another.
I have no wish to persue medical studies nor the intention to adopt it as a profession. Yet I SHOULD study medical and obtain an mbbs degree to put my career, as you say, on the safe side and TRY css later. Precious advice it sure is, Sir but the question is:
JUST TO MAKE MY FUTURE SECURE, should I spend 5 years studying something I have no interest in and that which I know will be of no use to me in the career i have chosen for myself. Should I simply take and waste the seat of a student, who, had he been in my place, would have made a great doctor in the future to the benefit of his country. Would it not be selfishness on my part to waste a precious medical seat just to secure my own future?
I am ready to be selfish if there is 100% truth in the statement that css is where both the lowest and the highest intellect and hard work have the same chances to success and failure. Do tell me worthy people, is this css such a great game of total UNCERTAINTY that even a potential topper and hard woker cannot expect success and has to keep a backup plan as is mbbs in this case?
Hoping for patient answers and all apologies for any offence commited unintentionally
