As sad as it makes me asking this question, for the double standard education is a plague to this nation, I think it is a very realistic concern.

My goal of appearing for CSS is pretty clear. However, I have to do my Bachelors first, and for that I plan to pick out on subjects that will help me in policy making, and nourish my skills to analyse. The problem arises when I hear people telling me how opting for a government university rather a private one will be more useful when it comes to clearing my paper, which is honestly confusing me more than it should.


My present aim is to educate myself well enough to be able to rigorously strive and shape myself in a way that I can be well prepared for CSS. Which I know, I'll do regardless. But my real concern is whether there is any truth to this news. Does my preference of a university, be it any, impacts my outcome?

If anyone here with some experience can guide me with this little debacle, I'd be more than grateful.

To my knowledge,there is no such thing. Don't pay heed to such rumours; do your Bachelors and prepare yourself for CE.
